It's interesting to learn a bit of the scoot's history Wonder if they fitted the kit to it or if it came to them already done.

Left home at 4:30am Sunday morning, 21 hours later I'm home with the new Gyro! It's an early spec one with 3 stud rear rims and narrow track etc, but it has a 10" front wheel so it is newer than my 83 model which came with an 8". Haven't yet had a real good look over it, but I've noticed there is a bit of fibreglass repair work to be done, the screen/roof panel is fairly yellow but I am hoping it will come up ok with a decent buff with plastic polish. Once I've slept I'll pull it out of the van and see if I can get it to run! We had it all loaded up in the back of the van by 8:30am (I'm writing this at just after 2am ), and could easily have been home by lunch time, but instead we made a 2 hour detour and met up with a few fellow Moped NZ M.C club members who were doing a 150 odd kilometre ride and tagged along. Got given a ride on this beast Now I am a die hard 2stroke guy, but I must say after having a blast on this with it's race cammed 140cc clutched manual engine I could live with a couple extra strokes! First 3 gears = wheelie city!! Fingers crossed I'll have an update on both Gyros later on!

Tanks full of very stale gas and rusty water, the tap or line is blocked solid. Fired up first kick on engine start spray at least. Chucked my new battery in and none of the electrics did anything. Needs love, but I'll get there after the green ones done!

That doesn't look like the Canopy's I know. That must be very old. The ones you see often here have a frame that goes over the head and they have a wiper.

Correct you are tsimi, this is a Gyro X the same as my Green one, just all the body panels are aftermarket fibreglass turning it into a Canopy!

Ummmm... Another road trip is on the cards for this weekend now! Later model, stronger frame with factory added bracing etc, may use the bones from this one in my build now.

That engine looks clean!
Try to find someone that can weld and try to create a Minarelli/Gyro mix engine. Front minarelli with hyper race cylinder and the rear Gyro for the 3 wheel base. That way you'll have plenty of crank and cylinder choices.

It'd just been steam cleaned, I'm told the piston is melted but the rest is in good condition, was a running scooter less than a year ago before the engine died and he stripped it to rebuild.
The hybrid Jog engine idea has been floating around the back of my mind for a while, the welding isn't a problem at all, it's building a jig to hold everything in alignment and finding a cheap horizontal Jog engine to cut up that's holding me back a bit.
Edit: other thing that's holding me back is I feel a bit limited by the CVT, can't run a belt any longer than stock since the belt has minimal clearance from the left drive axle.

I'm assuming by the hashtags under the photo that it's an Aerox motor (Mina) grafted on, but at first I was thinking that it was a Piggy motor tagram.org/image/BaoFa3hA62E

It is an Aerox motor, currently being rebuilt with a big stroker crank It's the engine for his "Prebug race Gyro" The owner/builder and I have been chatting on FB a bit since I first got my Gyro, he's the one that told me about the AF56 stem fitting the AF35 forks and he's given me some advice on how to mod the oil pump to suit 70cc+ engines along with a lot of other useful info. I've got accsess to a mill, lathe and a guy who knows how to drive them much better than I do who is keen to help build something crazy. Also know of a tame welder who likes a challenge and beer. So if a Mina came along cheap it'd be rude not to at least pick it up... This is what I was talking about with being limited with OR belt choices

The brake levers are really starting to get to me ATM, I can't find any stock BWS/Zuma ones in NZ and I'm already over NZ$100 down on the 2 sets I got so far that just aren't cutting it. Looking at getting one of these, but am hesitant in case it too isn't suitable once it gets here!

Crazy coincidence that you've been talking to that guy! How he grafted those motors together is way cool and doesn't look all that hard to do. I bet one of the worst parts is trying to find a belt that works.

And those are some long ass levers. ya might want to see if they have some with shorter ones, or find another shorter set of levers that will fit.
