Very nice and clean Gyro. And sounds great too. Definitely gona be an eye catcher on the next scooter meet.
Is that thing stock? Maybe it's just me but it looked quite fast in the video.

Thanks mate, I'm super stoked with it! Pretty sure the engine is almost completely stock, it's a later model Canopy model engine and the only things done to it that I know of is it has a Dio carb (need to change to a smaller pilot) and the pipe, it's fairly quick for what it is, tops out at about 60k. And seriously thanks again tsimi for all your help with parts postage, it helped so much!! Paint shop thinks there's a mold wax embedded in the steps plastic, wants the step back in and he's going to use a special acid wash of some kind then repaint it for me!!

Loving riding this thing!! After doing a few little bits to my Suzuki I decided to start tearing down the engines a bit, quickly discovered that the middle generation X engine that I wanted the crank out of is one with the limited slip diff unit But that all the teeth had been stripped off the LSD clutch plates rendering it a 1 wheel drive. Late Canopy axle vs the LSD one Now is where the differences really set me back, the oil pump drive gear is a different size and there is a couple other slight differences stopping me from using the crank in late Canopy cases, but the stripped LSD unit and also the ugly external starter motor mounting means I can't use the X engine, the stuffed LSD even rules the cases out for a Yamaha hybrid build! So now I am stuck, my new bearings and seals arrived in the country from Japan this AM to be delivered to me in the morning, but I now don't have a crank for my 70cc build I have a very good reason for not just swapping the Malossi cylinder onto my current engine too. Tried to buy this stoker crank from Japan a while back but the shop never replied with a shipping price. item.rakuten.co.jp/autopartsu/crh-cnp-nsr-001/?s-id=xb_shop_001Would also need a 12mm pin piston to suit too. Edit: little more info on the differential differences, this is the LSD set up Notice that there is no differential in there at all? Thats because on the out side of the case is the limited slip unit, it is driven by part 8 (right drive axle) and then part 6 above which is the left drive axle slots into 2 plates (which I posted that mine have there teeth striped out) Where as the Canopy model as well as the later generation X had this much stronger set up utilising a standard 2 pinion open centre differential arrangement. It may lack LSD but I'm happy to give that up in favour of a system that actually works and is much stronger!

All too mgood Raizer! Wish I had access to my Gyro daily, but life isn't that easy. My thoughts have been on gearing mods for Gyro's. The LSD seems bullet proof, really. If you have a stripped one, it is from super extreme abuse or open air corrosion, followed by more abuse.
Mechanical abuse is fun.

I've got 3 LSD engines here, 1 very early (1983), one early (1991) and the mid term (1996) one pictured, all are 1 wheel drive, I would say they have all done the same thing but I know next to nothing of there histories beyond all 3 have at some stage been used as golf karts by old men and one was also used a bit on a farm lol.
Have been told by a couple Japanese tuners that if you want to make power you don't want the LSD as they don't take much abuse (but there is often a lot lost in translation, it might have just been with his 95cc water cooled builds haha)

Haha...my guess is very overloaded axles! If you look at the design, there can be too much load put on the left side. How much load/flex/torque...not sure. What part is failing?
Better yet...do you have a full service manual? I am trying to find a good one...make it electronic and get it into English and Thai to make everyone happy.
Everyone found on Japan sites are very high priced in Japanese and poor quality. I can and will re-produce, if I can get something electronic. We speak English, Thai, Japanese, Spanish and a smattering of Euro-speak. Willing to make it available, if I can get a clean one.

Part 2 in this diagram The 2 disks are splined and the axle slots into the splines, all the teeth are pretty much gone from the one on the bench so the axle just spins in them. I wish I had a manual! At the moment I am using the parts diagrams on CMSL and Impex Japan to compare the different generations etc. tsimi is there any chance at all you would want to help me out one more time? I've got 2 weeks to build the new engine so I really need to get a crank sorted out!

I will try to find a few old ones from a shop near our home...when we get home. Looks like we can try to make some with better materials/reinforcement...not sure, but worth a look see! Will need overall side play figures/thicknesses/yada-yada-yada.I love this stuff!

oops, soory for the goof-post...above
BTW...I do not see splines. I see three dogs on the pressure discs. Very workable. You say the plates are splined? Does not show in drawing. I can see a fix, if I can measure spring rate effectively.

Raizer Sure, anytime. I am ready when you are. Awesome! I will PM you in the morning, just trying to make my mind up on which crank. I think the stroker would be good, but I'm not sure if a 2mm increase in stroke would require any machining etc to the cylinder or anything that may take up too much time to sort out? There's a couple options for stock stroke cranks too

Dude, this scoot has turned out so freaking awesome! Even the green, which I'm totally not a fan of, looks awesome. You did an amazing job. Can't wait to see what all you do to the motor.
