You need enough power for wheelies, anything less would be criminal. Lol.

Looks really silly with the wheelbarrow spec wheels now! Am trying to track down a nasty vibration, changing wheels helped a LOT but I think there's something off balance in the CVT area buzzing a bit. Am carefully stripping all the plastics and stuff back off to get the step/floor into the painters ASAP as I have yet again ended up with a 2 week dead line to get it finished again, but this time I have got 2 to sort out as I've taken on fixing up another one for a mate! "Yeah mate, there still good engines, just need to clean the kick start parts and put a belt on it" Besides everything being filthy and any bearings that arent seized are dry and noisy sounding it all looks like it is in perfect condition, so that's a plus! Now to figure out what the go is for porting a Honda intake!

raizer...you and tsimi have inspired me to get more done on my own Gyro. Nice job cleaning up the (WOW) housing iron factory mess!
I am not in the position to tear down that far yet...my problem is a timing/proximity/priority issue. The timing? Not enough. Proximity? Never home long enough. Priority? Honey-doo's are higher every year after retirement, which is why I am working again.
That said...I want to bust into that LSD drive. The drive plates are splined, huh? Makes sense, but I do not think they are available any more...cutting a piece of 316 or better stainless to match the splines would be the right answer, but the disc must be found for bonding. Could be worthy of a parts upgrade if there is enough market.
Can you get me a plate thickness, inner and outer diameter of the plate, inner and out of the friction disc? (Maybe overall thickness of the bonded friction disc...I can make some wear assumptions)
They appear similar to other Honda diff's...the old AN600 had LSD. Parts may be available in Germany.

Proboards does that on occasion. You can just click the "Send PM" button in someone's mini-profile (what shows up beside their posts) and that should work.

I haven't had a chance to pull the plates for you yet, I've got less than 2 weeks to get 2 Gyros ready for a club ride. Stripped and degreased Made use of the local coin op car wash, I really need to buy a water blaster for my business! Not perfect, but ready for either bead blasting or possibly painting?? Picked up WeBike parcel from the post office since I wasn't home when they tried to deliver on Saturday, crank bearings and most of the seals I need for the build. Honda used a few odd sized seals in there scooters so I went genuine as I just couldn't get them from my usual sorce, the other bearings and seals are coming from a mate tomorrow. Not pictured, but I spent an hour with the dremal porting out the intake manifold, I'm having bad thoughts about a big intake and OKO/PWK carb... Couple before pics of the case ports Fair bit of room for improvement there! Stripped an oil pump, have been shown how to mod it to give 1.6x output to suit the bigger cylinder so I'm going to give it a go. And as it sits right now, with it's friend all tucked in waiting for a top end rebuild and likely a bigger jet as it was soft seizing every 5 minutes after maybe 30 minutes into the big club ride. Lets see if I can get 2 Gyros on the road in less than 2 weeks! Looks like a major step backwards, but that paint just didn't cut it!

Crank is on it's way from Japan! I really better get onto getting these cases finished! Took the step panel into the painters this AM, he gave it a blow with the air gun, less than 2 minutes later it was 90% white again, he's confident they will be able to sort it out and I'll have it back before the week is over, fingers firmly crossed! Took the wide rears around 5 different tyre shops until I finally found 1 that could/would balance them If I can find some better quality tyres in my budget I think I'll swap them out, can see on the balancer that the tyres are not moulded very round/a couple burnouts might help Tonight I spent a couple hours diagnosing my mate Greg's brown Gyro, then I had a bit of a play with mine. Roughed out my ports, still need to clean them up but there taking shape, going to match the cylinder to the cases tomorrow. And pulled my diff bearings I'd drilled a seat into the bolt head so it pulled straight, was just loose while taking the pic. Oh and if anyone is interested in Greg's one, it turned out to be something a bit more drastic than soft seizing! Not seeing any signs of running lean, so pretty sure the soft seizes were actually the bits of clip getting jammed between the piston and cylinder, not a Crank and big end etc are all in good nick still, so it'll be getting a new cylinder and I'll give everything a once over and it'll be ready to go!

I always wonder how something like that piston can happen. I had never a clip get loose in any of my builds. I have used the double G clips on my Polini Sport, then the single G on my TPR Black Trophy and the C type clips on my MHR Replica cylinder and I simply cannot imagine how a clip can get loose. Unless it was done something wrong like a bit too much bend/twisted when installing or not sitting perfectly inside the piston groove. I always get some spare clips for every build and if I have the feeling that I twisted the clip too much then I replace it right away just to be on the safe side.

Yeah I'm unsure why it let go, I know that up until Greg got hold of it a few weeks ago the Gyro had had a hard time being thrashed by kids. It was a stock piston and bore and I saw nothing that made me think it's ever been apart before so I can't really put blame on anything specific, just that it's made a mess of the top end!

Been mucking around with Greg's Gyro, Malossi 70cc top end came in Got my boy onto swaping out the MJ, Malossi include an 85mj with the cylinder kit Quickly discovered that the older Gyro X uses a smaller carb than the later model X or Canopy that the cylinder is made for, so the jet doesn't fit and also the carb throat is tiny and the intake manifold is super restrictive! I swapped on a spare Canopy/Dio spec intake I had, but I don't have a complete spare carb, cobbled together some parts from 3 different models of carbs and got it running, but yeah the carb was a mess, there is another carb coming from a Moped NZ M.C member in a day or 2 so hopefully it'll be sorted out soon! Also I managed to make up a pipe out of a scrap Canopy muffler I gutted and some other bits I had sitting in the steel bin Nothing fancy, but it flows MUCH better than the ugly little box muffler that was on it! And as if I didn't already have enough to do, we decided to have a play with the pile of parts that were taking up room in the corner of my little shed Ended up flogging the engine out of the Canopy converted X, just because it is slightly newer than my original 1983 one so I was able to swap 6 stud hubs on and use the ATV knobbly tyres on the rear So now I've got 2 road legal, running Gyro Xs!! Just need to paint the rest of the rough plastics black and fit a few lights etc and it'll be ready to lurk the streets, rough, rugged and ready haha! Hopefully have a fairly decent update on the Green one tomorrow... Stay tuned ha!

Holy cow! You are very productive. Or monomaniacal. Either way, stellar work.

Cheers for the encouragement guys! jbjhillbilly had to google monomaniacal, seems like it fits ha! So now I've had a very productive afternoon, might break this into 2 posts as it'll be fairly pic heavy! Thursday just gone I took my cases into the powder coaters He pointed out there was a lot of masking to do on them, so if I wanted to save $25 or so he could acid dip them and then I could take them home at the end of the day to mask up myself, so yeah that sounded great to me! Dipped 4+ hours masking later... Yes I spotted the missed bit and taped it up after I took the pic! Saturday morning a courier came with the rest of the bearings and seals I needed from a mate of mine that deals in trade supplies Then 15 minutes later another courier came with my crank from WeBike! So I had pretty much everything I need Cases were powder coated Saturday and I picked them up this morning Same colour as my front wheel was done, I'm rapt with how they came out! Gave the exhaust port on my Malossi a good clean up, widened it a couple mm while I was at it Nothing too aggressive but it is a lot nicer than it was out of the box! Took a bit of courage on my part to take an angle grinder to the new cylinder, but the skirt was covering a rather large amount of the intake port in the case and that just wasn't going to fly!

That was about as far as I could get with my meagre assortment of tools at home, so I packed everything up and went down to my old work to use the press there And well it'd be rude not to make full use of the gear on hand right? Back home I fired up the BBQ and cooked some cases While the crank just chilled out Still ended up having to weld a heavy washer to some tube to make a crank puller for one side, the bearing was a real tight fit on the flywheel side of the crank! Contrary to popular belief, the parking lock on a Gyro doesn't engage the rear brake, it actually locks the input shaft in the gear set Wish I'd got the head blasted, but at least it'll be hidden under the shrouds New clutch and bell are very high on my want list!! Also thinking PWK 26mm and big intake might work nicely? That's as far as I got tonight, the kick start parts are soaking in diesel overnight, need to get a plug, cut inlet gaskets and reassemble the modded oil pump. Then it'll be time to swap it into the bike! Should be an improvement over the stock 49cc that can barely push it upto 55k haha
