Very cool! I have a feeling this thing is going to turn out bad asf. I really hope so!! I've been getting advice and inspiration from a few owners of modified Gyros in Japan on FB about what combos of parts come together to work on the Gyro (I never would have figured out that you have to use an AF56 stem for example, the AF35 stem does not work at all if you want to keep the fairings on the front.). And of course tsimi has been a legendary help with advice on Japanese shops, what key words to use and of course sending the parts to me. Stripped the China carb for a nosey earlier, can't find anything bad about it besides the enricher feels a little bit loose when fitting it to the carb, but it still seems to seal fine so it should be mint as. Thought some of you at least might be interested in having a look inside an NZ$20 carby And the $15 torque driver I don't know about any of you, but I'm actually rather impressed with both! Oh and I've still got a few surprises up my sleeve...

"Clearanced" the underside of the front panel thing, might need a few spots of weld to add some strength back. Forks now turn unobstructed, need to make up stoppers too. Had a look to see if I can get the brake working, master didn't feel to be making much/any pressure so it was my first port of call Yummy. If I can find kits, I'll rekit both the master and caliper, braided line would be nice too as well as being easier to route than the thick rubber one. Have been offered a decent new little tig welder package for a damn sweet price, so it's more than likely I'll pick it up next week, lets see how much of a mess I can make to an exhaust with a tig!

This is going to be awesome. I really kinda want a Gyro now, haha.

Pulled the caliper and line off tonight, caliper was pretty well stuck, neither the slides nor the piston wanted to move. So yeah that required a bit more investigation Doesn't look too bad right? So how about after applying a bit of compressed air into the bleed nipple hole? Mmmmm tasty! Believe it or not I'd already given everything a good squirt of brake cleaner and a wipe down with a rag. Gave everything a damn good clean, used some 2000 paper to clean the bore and piston etc, seals were in remarkably decent condition so I lubed it up and reassembled Also cleaned out the master cylinder and flushed the line, refitted it all and bled it up. Feels like it's working nicely now, decent pressure etc. The Dio line is way too short for the Gyro though, but I've got a brand new 1100mm braided SS line that was too long for the Let's which should work out nicely! CHANGE YOUR BRAKE FLUID PEOPLE!!

Could you not drop the form stanchions 5mm to give you more clearance? or is there a grove they sit in? Everyone loves candy. 😀

There's a groove that the top bolt sits in, no biggie since I've already made clearance now. Also the front already sits a bit higher than the rear with this front end so if anything I'd rather lower it than raise it at all. japan.webike.net/products/2053774.html would one day like a pair of these, not going to happen in too much of a hurry though!

This should help with the exhaust... The welder itself arrives on Monday!

Still waiting for my trade account to be approved so I can get a cylinder of argon! Got a moment in the shed and had a play with the exhaust, it's a bit tighter than I'd figured, going to be a bit of mucking about getting it to work! May yet end up routing it around along the same path as the stock pipe as yet I can straighten the chamber up a bit, but can't move it much further to the other side if I want to keep the stock airbox, which I think I do.

Just had another parcel arrive from Japan, yay! Pretty decent assortment of parts this time New genuine Honda storage bin, HVFactory ignition trim, 2nd hand late model bars, front carrier and inner trim piece, decent 2nd hand Zoomer lights, new AF35 speedo cable etc. That variator grease looks to be a heavy moly paste, grabbed it just to satisfy my curiosity haha. Got a few ideas on what to do with the bars and light mounts. All the individual parcels gave me something to unwrap for my birthday haha! Also got new taillight lenses for my Let's and my wife's AZ50. Once again a massive thanks to tsimi for making it all come together! Edit: these just arrived, should make the exhaust a bit nicer using proper mandrel bends

Nothing too exciting to report really One little Aliexpress parcel came this AM Looks the part for $12. And started having a look at my bars, this is how they come from the factory with mounts for all the trim and optional windscreen etc etc Bit of rough cutting later and there already starting to look a bit better Spent a bit of time with a flap disc cleaning them up some more, when I realized I'd better check that they actually fit on the AF35 stem haha And this should pretty much show my intentions with them Going to finally fire up my TIG tomorrow too. Also tried the new carrier on, it took a couple little tweaks and the threads drilled out of the factory holes but it fits nicely (I took a gamble on a very late model rack fitting the earliest model Gyro), I need to draw up some light mounting brackets to get cut out on the waterjet tomorrow and weld them on too. Those mandrel bends are 27.5mm ID, it that going to be too large for the first stage of the headpipe? I have only found them and others in 19.8mm id which seems a touch small?

Went and got a TIG lesson from a mate, told him I'd never used one before etc and expected to be zapping up some scrap. I was wrong, he set up the welder and explained it all, put 2 tacks on my handle bars and then put me straight onto welding up my bars without so much as a test spot weld! So before looking at these pics, please remember I have NEVER tig welded in my life! Added a couple M6 nuts into the bottom of the cross brace so there's somewhere to mount gauges etc Not perfect, but a bit more grinding and a coat of paint will hide all sins lol Oh yeah before I forget, I was once again awoken by my favourite courier lady... Malossi 70cc kit (which comes without a head on the Honda but does include an 85mj?), Naraku CDI, small end bearing, a pile of cable end fittings, 3 sets of wrong sized clutch springs (WHY can't I ever find the right sizes!!!), stickers etc. Think I'm going to build up another engine rather than swap the kit onto the current one, need to talk to a friendly vapour blaster in my car club about getting one of the spare engine's cases blasted up all pretty I think.

Well done! I never welded in my life nor did I ever hold such tool in my hands but I think it is harder then it looks. I would probably have f$%*#d up that handle bar. You on the other hand did very well, at least it looks well. I am sure an experienced welder will chime in. Have you ever take a look at the Polini blue clutch springs for a Piaggio? I have those and they could fit, didn't try it yet though since I don't use the HIT clutch at the moment. I can get you dimensions and comparison pics of those as soon I get home from work. Talking about work...it's time to go home! Yeah!
