I advanced the timing just slightlylast night and went for a 50 mile ride. Tucked I saw almost 48MPH again. There was 0 wind last night when I was riding though, so it may be a mild improvement, or maybe not. A little while after I got home a breeze kicked up. I thought, "where the hell were you when I needed you?" ;D
For the first time in a long time, I had a cop check my speed. Lucky for me, it's a SunL. I had just left a town and was only up to maybe 40 at best (can't see the speedo at night) when he passed me in the opposite direction and spun around. I let off and guessed at 30-35MPH. He snuck up on me and then paced me for what seemed like forever. Finally went by. If he had just went up the road and parked he probably coulda got me doing 40-45 if he wanted to, but even I'm not dumb enough to go faster when I know there's a cop by me. lol I like riding late at night around here because there's next to no traffic... but then the cops are bored.

I used to like riding at night too, but now its a risky move because i cant see the cops coming or going :paranoid: . The other night i was heading home from Uncles place (only a few blocks away). There is only one heavy traveled road i have to go about a block down a get to a neighborhood cut-through. I was riding behind a car trying to stay around 30MPH. There was a pack of cars head the towards me in the other direction (4 lane road). All of the sudden cars on both side of the road hit the brakes and slowed, so i did to. As i passed the pack of cars going the other way i saw the reflection of flashing red and blues in my mirror. The cop was still heading the opposite of me so i dont know if he was pulling me over or what. By then i was almost to my turn. I turned the corner and headed home as fast as possible. Im not sure who, if, what the cops was pulling over . All i know is i was going home NOW :scoot2:. What a crappy feeling! Riding a scooter and feeling like your doing something wrong. Hell ide feel safer in the car driving at this point. Im sorry to stray Brent. Nice ride, 50 miles is a haul :riding: . Good weather for it tho :thumb: . Get it in while ya can

That does suck. I'm wating for the time when the cops around here start acting like the ones up there. I think it's getting closer, but I hope not. I used to ride T2 around and I've been passed by cops when I was doing over 50 many times (better than teh speed limit, on the shoulder). Now I'm doing 35-40 and getting watched. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. I guess I can't say much, if no one like me and the folks that ride 150s as 50s sped around I guess they wouldn't have to watch us huh? I used to ride between 40-80 miles about every night it seemed. Now I barely get on the scooters unless I'm testing/tuning something. Last night was the first night I've felt a little cold with a jacket on. It was about 55 I think. I don't miss the hot humid weather we had this summer, but I do miss 70-80 degree night rides now. I'll get used to it though. I still ride plenty down to around freezing temps. The bad thing about liking to ride at night (and only being able to ride at night usually) is that 30 degrees with sunshine is way warmer than 30 degrees at night. I guess I better dig out the thermals again.

Hey, Props for the 50 mile ride.
I need to try a night ride sometime. I'm just a little afraid of what kind of meth smoking hillbilly i might run into out in these Ozarks hills. When i was a News Videographer i went on lots of midnight druglab raids. Was always glad to have 5 FBI agents between me and the "mad scientists".
But i digress... ;D

The main thing that worries me out here at night are deer, especially this time of the year.

I modded the vari a little to let it close farther and went out for a ride tonight. It's about 5 degrees colder than last night (50F), but felt like 10+ colder to me. The scooter seemed more sluggish and didn't wanna rev as high at any point when WOT. I was thinking the main jet was probably too lean for the best power. About 10 miles in, I started hearing the crackle of spark knock. I turned around and came home. By the time I was near my house, the crackiling had got a little worse. I believe it's mostly due to having my timing advanced and having the main jet set for good power at temps 20 degrees warmer. It could be that the CVT is staying in a slightly higher "gear" and putting more load on the engine as well. I never got over 45MPH tucked tonight. I think I'm going to move up from a 98 main to a 102 main. That should keep me safer in the colder temps at night for a while.

The NCY torque driver came in from Enviromoto today as did the 5g sliders from Treatland, so I decided to do a little tinkering. It wouldn't fit on the stock rear pulley, so I tried another rear pulley that I had around to make sure it wasn't an issue with the pulley I had. Didn't fit that one either. I used a sanding drum on a Dremel to take a little material off (where it's shiny ) and it fit. First test run with 4.5g sliders, I managed to get to 45.5MPH. I went by a radar sign and when I was doing 45 it said I was going 46, so I'm still on the honest side of calibration for the Sigma. ;D When I checked, I still had part of the two marks I made on the variator's face left. I swapped over to 5g sliders. The revs dropped, of course, but it still pulled well. I got to about the same speed, but I had a shorter run because a dog ran out in front of me (shortly before that 3 deer tried to get me ). When I checked, I still had the leftover space on the variator. The bright side is that it pulls harder above 35MPH than it did before. Nothing amazing, but it's definitely an improvement. Hopefully I can get this thing working with my variator as well as the stocker did.

I went for a long ride last night, but no matter what I do it doesn't wanna get that last bit of travel out of the variator and I'm 2MPH short of even my previous bests at only 46MPH. It did feel like the 5g sliders were a bit heavier than ideal. I pulled the CVT apart today and confirmed that I still have that little bit of travel left.
I measured the amount of travel that bothteh stock and NCY TQ drivers have, thinking the NCT may not be letting the belt travel as far inward. Turns out the NCY has about .7mm more travel than the stocker and the belt is capable of riding all the way to the center. So, it appears the potential is there to go as fast or faster... but for some reason I just can't do it.
I did mod the variator without a good test prior to this, but I modded it in a manner that should allow it to close more and push the belt farther outward.

I swapped weights again and went for a long ride last night. Still can't get over 46MPH. I popped the cover off this morning. It's still not getting full travel on the variator face. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong here. I never had a probelm getting full travel before this driver, but it's odd to me that this one will allow the belt to go all the way to the center and yet I don't get full travel on the vari side. I haven't marked it to see if the belt really is getting to the center in the rear pulley. I guess I could try much heavier weights to see if anything would change. Now that I've got used to 4.5-5g sliders and staying in peak power most of the time it would probably feel like a slug again. I'm not sure what else it could be. It's almost gotta be soemthing with the tq driver, but it's just odd that it has more travel from open to closed than stock and I get less belt travel.
I think everyone's quit paying attention to this turd. It's just me posting to myself. :scared:

Nah, I'm here. How about one of Enviro's longer than stock belts?
An update on the exhaust I fitted, as it's only you reading it anyway.
Fitted last night and upjetted to a 110. The exhaust itself is very well made indeed, perfectly matched to the exhaust port on my cylinder. The performance gains are minimal at best, top speed is 68 at 10000 RPM, combined with the 22% gear up kit.
It feels to me like it's not reaching full range on the vari, so I'll try some heavier weights. It also runs like a wet fish up to 3/4 throttle, not sure what I'll do about that. The needle is already as lean as it'll go.

Those belts are 2mm longer. Even if I was sure that was the problem, it's hard to beleive 2mm length is gonna do a lot.
It's hard to complain about nearly 70MPH! Not sure what to tell you about the tuning. Just takes time. I've never had the pleasure (or maybe displeasure) to tune more high end type of stuff like your setup. I know that they are supposed to be way more finicky and you constantly have to tune some of them to keep them running their best. Get a selection of jets in your range if you can and do test passes with them to see what gives you the best speed and RPM. Check the plug to make sure the jetting isn't too lean. Same with the weights basically. Once you get the main jet right for sure, then I'd move on to figuring out the needle. You may need a fatter needle if it's still running that rich. If you feel like it, you should start a build thread for your ride. Pics, vids, info, whatever you wanna post about it. It's a sweet scoot, so I'm sure I'm not the only one interested.
