Look much better with those lights Geoff. Are you going to paint the panels? Mat black would look good with the theme.

I have the US spec one which had a "red brick" light hanging off the rack. I've been looking for an integrated light like that for mine for awhile now.

So thanks to the info you provided me I found an ebay seller who sells aftermarket reproductions of this taillight for a descent price. It's not oem but it'll do.

So I had a little time to play with "moody" it has not wanted to run,so I put my kick start boots on and had a meddle, these engines are fickle they won,t run without the petcock turned on :)I popped in an 82 jet and cleared the starter jet, basic stuff I sometimes miss and I sealed up the air box with a gasket made from old glazing seal.then I pressed "go" sugar I,m sure i did a wheelie I am going for a test run in the morning if all is well I will fit the shiny new "sports" variator that my wife is getting for her birthday. Well progress at last, new variator fitted =30mph,upjetted=30mph,tucked in naked =30mph I was stuck and resolved to find an oversize belt as a last resort.having noted down the o/e belt number I was doing my research and was surprised to find I had a 100cc belt fitted and a 50cc belt on a spare 100cc engine I have stashed away, foolishly at some stage I have mixed them up while testing for fit and swap ideas.I have just corrected that error and grandad is at last a "daily" 35+ on two short test runs 4mm of travel left on the various deep joy.I have also gone premix and will use the oil tank as a reserve gas tank.

He,s come of age, took grandad for his MOT test today he passed with out a hitch and no advisories so just insurance to stump up and finally I can tax it and get some legal testing done,it,s about 4 miles to the test station and I smiled all the way keeping up with traffic and beamed all the way home.

That's great news. Are you not supposed to have insurance to go to the test centre? 😉 When I put the first MOT on the slider, the tester came out and said "do you realize, it last had an MOT 9 years ago?" He was a bit shocked !

So here,s a poser I ordered a set of mirrors for grandad £13 off an eBay listing the "set" arrived today and its just the right hand one,so I have messaged the vendor to ask where the left mirror of the "set" is .am I being arsy or would you expect a set to comprise of two,I will wait to see what they say.
Geoff
So despite my doubts the vendor agrees and has sent out the LH mirror without any quibble,so hats off to them A W Motorcycles of Doncaster UK should you need them.
Nice shiney chrome arms and black backed mirrors ,grandad,s bryllcream (hair gel )

Yes you should have insurance but noMOT means no insurance, chicken an egg problem the honest thing to do would be to Chuck it on my truck there and back, but there,s no ANPR on the route and the thin blue line is on a shift change or sorting the M6 carnage at 7am.my tester never batted an eyelid.

You can get insurance without MOT. But can only legally ride to a pre booked MOT. Taking the most direct route.
Did they have two mirrors in the picture on the listing? I'm with you, one is definitely not a set.

An MOT is a yearly check on the safety of your scoots it,s a legal requirement here in the UK if you ride without it our police will prosecute without fail.

It,s been a long afternoon on the phone but the deed is done grandad has been added to my existing ins policy for the next 6 months £52 which is fine but £25 of that is an admin charge(happy to help)which hurts come January I will have to shop around for a better deal.road tax is £20 and should be easy to do online we shall see!.to save any none UK questions ,,MOT + road tax + insurance are a legal requirement here ANPR cameras "ping" if you don't have them, fines and penalty points(12 points gets your licence revoked ) keep us compliant.going to hit the road soon.
