At least it's ready to put some miles on now. Should be a fun ride.

Whoopee, took it out on the road all legal and taxed, its a joy rips to 30 then on to 34mph by GPS good enough for the commute, there is an issue with the fuel gauge or supply, it cut out a few times untill I filled the tank so I will have to keep it topped up,the pet cock may need replacing the new one I got is huge but fits the OE bolt pattern,it,s going to be the hottest day of the year here so I am resting myself and the scoots till it cools off.

You can check if it is the gauge of the sender. If you bridge the two connections at the sender together. It should read full at the gauge. My slider has a similar problem. All the time you ride the gauge will read ok, but drop down. It's the sender unit. But it's a cylindrical style that you can't buy anymore.

Thanks for that info, did a 5 mile shake down ride today, rode it like stole it with no issues so I am going to use it for the commute and rest the 04 jog while we have nice weather.the seat needs recovering so its teach yourself upholstery time ,I have a spare seat and I am cutting 3panels from plastic bags which has got me nearly there.

Well that did not go well,I had a couple of rides 20miles in all and the exhaust came loose, limped it home and ordered a tecnigas silent pro,it arrived today and have decided to rebuild the top end while I am in there, shocking discoveries, loose spark plug?loose inlet bolts?and the exhaust mounting bolts are just missing, going to redo and recheck my work,it is a wonder it was still running.on the bright side my upholstery skills are poor so I took a punt on a "tailored seat cover" £12.61 so my hopes were not high but it arrived today it is super fits like a glove just like an OE replacement photos when the new phone arrives.

I have spent some time reflecting, when I rebuilt the top end I was in a rush and a little cash strapped so I reused the gaskets ,as it was an exercise to see if the project was a go or fail, when it started I should have rebuilt then ,but hey ho I am in the process of cleaning and refitting new gaskets.it hurts a little that the new exhaust will not be judged on merit alone but I cannot face rebuilding with the original and then swapping it out just for fun.

Where did you find the seat cover? My son needs a replacement for his BWS. It's proving a bit elusive tracking one down.

Grandads in bits, the exhaust is not plug and play ,in short the OE pipe is 21mm the tecnigas is 28mm and fouls on the engine mount, but I have removed the restrictor so I will have to make it fit or use it as garage "art",I have cut the flanges off two old exhausts to space the thing out and its nearly there the engine mount tube is 2mm thick so I reckon I can shave some off that, but I am stuck the 30 year old circlip is a tad difficult to remove ,my go to tool guys are away for the weekend, hopefully one of them will help me out. Got the clip moving and then broke it ,so at least thats one foot forward, the tube is rust welded to the bearing I will let it soak in WD40 and try again later.soaked and free it,s out the exhaust kind of fits,we will see what the morrow brings.

So I have spent the last week chipping away at the problem, the exhaust is fitted after much filing and grinding cussing ect.yep he rips now that old\new exhaust was restrictive!!I have just had a little test run and I think I need to re jet,I have to swap the temp and rev counter off the commute scoot so I can attempt to tune it in,I am off to look for clutch springs next. So thanks to the info you provided me I found an ebay seller who sells aftermarket reproductions of this taillight for a descent price. It's not oem but it'll do. By any chance would you happen to remember the sellers name? I have the housing but its got the blanks not the lenses....
