This one's been having trouble starting lately. I figured it's an air leak in the intake, but I've been hearing an exhaust leak too I think. Yesterday I fired it up and it sounded like it was popping out of the exhaust, or maybe even knocking... When I get to Arizona I was planning on doing some work on it anyway, but I may need to swap a crank. If that's the case I may just build a new motor cuz this one has some damage on the block by the vario cover.

If it’s been sitting for any length of time it may just need some fresh fuel, especially if it’s premix in the tank.

It's not the fuel, I don't think. I'm pretty sure the intake has a fat air leak, and I also think my dented pipe and polini belt need replaced. I recently tried to swap the exhaust gasket, but I didn't have the right one. Now it's in non-running condition and I'm thinking about upgrading. I moved to Phoenix and it's nice and sunny here, but all the roads are 45mph and everyone does like 55-60 in town, so I need to be able to keep up. So, I need a 65-70 mph bike. And I think I've got a plan to do it, but it's gonna require a new bore, new crank, and new pipe. This case has some damage on the bottom, so I'm thinking about new carters too. So, im kinda stuck for now. I'm gonna swap out the exhaust gasket and try to fix the airleaks in the intake, but I'm thinking I want an Aerox carter so I don't have to modify another case just to make it work for a rear disc brake.

Yup I'm totally thinking of your bore, but I'm still waiting on a couple things to come thru. Also, I'm hoping I can score a complete Aerox motor off Ebay or maybe a member here for cheap, but we'll see. I may just order a new '08 Zuma case and mod it for rear disc again. I'm thinking '08 gears with 14/42 straight cuts with a c16 or maybe a c21 and your Athena, not sure about the crank yet. Probably Athena.

The cases don’t matter on the Zuma, it’s the gears that make the difference. 08+ gears with 14/42 would put you about 10:1 final drive ratio. I can tell you the C16 is a very useable pipe that can turn some rpms if needed. I can see 12K w/ my 80cc. My copy of the C21 is dead until 9K+, id think the original would be the same. Athena make some nice cranks for the money, the one I’m using uses a slightly different wrist pin bearing they may all be that way. It makes for a beefy small end. Small end bearing is a 12x16x14.8, wiseco B1043, measure and make sure if you go with the Athena crank.

For some reason I remember the '08 case and random other parts being cheaper on Partzilla haha. That's the only reason haha.

Just throwing this out there, but the shop I work at now strips and powder coats wheels and other stuff. I've been thinking about getting my wheels done since they are old and they actually don't match. What color should I do? Black, silver, gunmetal, gold, some combo?

Well if you have abundant access to powder coating id plan on stripping the scoot down to the frame and doing the frame. Unless the frames still good from factory. Then your scoot becomes one of a kind if you pick another color other than black. As far as your rims goes it's a hard call. You've got a brown, black, and grey scheme going on. So any of those colors would look good. Matching that seat might be a tough one. You could get rid of that grey on the pan and powder coat the rims white. For a black, brown , and white look. 👍 Or just wait and see what's poppin up close after working around some colors for a while.

I actually did swap the grey pan for a black one finally. And I could recover the seat easily. I could cover it or I know an upholsterer who could stitch one up. Maybe a black suede seat with recaro center panels or something, I dunno. I'm just speculating at this point.

C16 runs good not just for the higher sport kits.but also runs well on midrace cylinders peaking around 12,500k

I'm picking up a polini "for race" pipe with the torsen arm. I like the torsen arm thing, it looks cool.
Im also getting an Athena kit (both from a member here) but Im not sure I'm gonna run it on this bike. I may save it for another motor, or I may run it on this motor with the OEM crank. You guys think an Athena Evo and polini for race will work on an OEM crank?
