LOL, I seen the title "pipe dreams" and for a sec I thought you were giving up. Then I realized you were referring to the exhaust build. Looking good.

Well It is welded up, finally. I had all sorts of trouble for some reason. I tried welding with mig wire, but it seemed to slag up quite a bit on the test piece i welded. So I decided to just use the %45 silver on the pipe I have been comfortable with. That went poorly too for some reason. I don't really know what was going on, it could have been the torch not set right, or dissimilar metals or who knows but the welds are krappy. Fit up started out awesome especially on the front section, but somehow ended up out of alignment. In the process I ran out of acetylene and silver solder, finally found some and got it finished for the most part. I guess I should not care, black paint hides a lot of ugly.

John told me about mechanics wire, the stuff for picture frames and that is what I’ve been using. It puddles up and flows very nicely. You know for next time...

The recent storm and lingering flooding associated with it have caused a load of work for my job. Resulting in very little time to work on this project. I have managed to do a little, such as opening up and widening the intake a bit more (busted through to the CVT area on purpose/accident), and I am well on the way to what I think is a decent fix for the gearbox. I am also in the planning stages of what needs to be done to the ex port to get the durations and chord width bumped up to where 190mech recommended them to be. Along with marking the cylinder skirt where it needs to be trimmed for better flow. I also have to fabricate a bracket for the pipe named Chub......... There is soooo much to be done yet. On a side note I needed a few more dollars on an order I placed to make free shipping, so I ordered a spare piston specifically for the 50mm Taidia cylinder I am working with. They sent a piston box that said for 50mm, 97cc, DIO on the outside, but the piston inside the box is nothing like the DIO piston that came with the cylinder kit. Of course after several emails, calls, texts, and pictures sent to the place I purchased it from, they agreed "the warehouse" sent me the wrong piston. The said they will send me the correct piston. We will see.

Glad to see ya back at it. Figured you would be "swamped" with work. I need to get mine out of the basement but been busy with other projects as well. FYI: I got shipping confirmation from RP deliver for 10/02/2018. Kinda impressed seeing it was ordered on 09/16/2018. 2 weeks and 2 days wait. Guess they are using faster boats. Think I will wait for the delivery(seeing its tomorrow), I want to try out the TK exhaust on the LC project.

I am not looking forward to it. Scootopia currently looks like a hurricane went through, the more I try to clean and organize, the worse it seems to get! I think you are gonna love that pipe. If you dont, i'll be glad to buy it from you because I want another one. I had my scoot to 55 the other day with a little help from traffic.

Here are a few pictures of my attempts to fix the gearbox. I made a guide for the router to follow using a spare set of undamaged cases and a piece of lexan. Then I put the guide on the damaged set of cases and went to town with the mini router. Now I need to get the brass bushings I got from Feebay cut down to 12.15mm and it should press in flush. Also going to put notches in the brass bushing for oiling passages just like the cases had in them. I wonder if I should put a pin through the case and partway through the bushing to help hold it in place? I also ended up going with a 20mm OD bushing. I could have gone with a 18mm OD bushing, but I screwed up and routed the pocket oversized to 18.5mm So I just opened it up to the next size bushing I could get which was 20mm Here is a picture of the pocket bearing as it looks when new and not screwed up because you forgot to put gear oil in the gearbox!
