So I rode a friends 250cc scooter (I have a motorcycle endorsement) on boy was it a kick in the pants. I loved the power but while looking online for a 250 scoot they all seem like rolling suit cases. I do NOT want all that plastic - I like a more bare bones approach. Any ideas. Some of the 150s are more appealing to me because of the sportier styling. I wonder how drastic the power difference is. Your thoughts?

There are some smaller 250s. I like the idea of those too, but when I looked into them briefly it seemed they had a lot of problems. Overheating being one of the major ones. HERE is an example. I've never rode a 250 scoot. I've rode a 150 enough. The power is fairly similar to a 70cc sport 2T. 50-60MPH, decent acceleration. They feel weird to me though. The 150s have a lot of grunt on launch and at low revs and then it feels like it dies out, because I'm used to the 2Ts that like to pull harder at higher revs. The 250 should be quite a bit more powerful than a 150 and much better for highway cruising.

Frankly, I don't like the look of any 150 or 250 scoot. I've ridden my neighbours 150s and like Brent said, they have great pull from rst, but they just don't seem to follow through. They are moving fast enough, but the 2T just seems like it has a lot more soul. If I HAD to have a 250 though I would get one of these: CFMoto V3: or CFMoto V5:

That second one, those have been around for awhile. I remember seeing them when I bought my Baron in '05. Baron sold them, but stil under the CFMoto tag even then. Baron of course is no more.

I'm partial to the V5, my self. But the first thing that would have to go is the lower fairing. What's the point in a cruiser if you can't see the engine?

Check out some of Goosey's threads. She's got two 150 retro scoots and has been doing a bit of modding!
