............ Went to throw the cover on and make sure it kicks over and no luck... found this. Explains why it wouldn't kick over. Not sure if you are talking about the welded tooth at the end of the kick start half moon or the missing start gear. The little weld belongs there, it acts as a stop.

I took the starter gear off to show the weld on the half moon gear. Oh no kidding... it’s not there on my other half moon gear... I wasn’t aware. Thank you!

Anyone have any clever ideas for covering up this area when the plastic shrouds are installed with an oil pump delete? I know Brent has his snazzy metal plate, but I don't really have the tools or resources atm to accomplish that... so wondering what others do to fill the void and stop crap from getting in?

On my Chinarellis, that area is covered by the fan shroud with a notch for the cable to slip through..Should be covered good enough unless you go to a waterpump side cover over there...

I’ll snap a pic later, but I think I’m just going to order new shroud covers then. Mine are all beat up and there a big ol gap there.

I just cut up a piece of aluminium. Two holes to bolt on where the oil pump used to bolt to.

Was this supposed to go in the trans with a nut before I closed it up?

Yeah. That's a pin that the brake shoes will sit on.

Yeah. That's a pin that the brake shoes will sit on. Son of a B!tch. They should really include that in the service manual... I have a love/hate relationship with that thing for sure. Guess I'll be opening the trans back up. Glad I didn't add oil yet.

Ken,if it makes you feel better,,This week I am getting my old 103 back together and happily installed the brake shoe pin, assembled and sealed the tranny case, only to find I had installed a brake pin for a TGB motor! CRAP!Second time is better!!I always use silicone sealant on a gasket and let it dry before installation, that way it comes apart clean when the WTF do over stuff happens!! Cheers! John

John Does make me feel better when guy who works on airplanes makes mistakes too haha... also a bit unsettling for some reason. Haha jk I didn’t know I could let it dry all the way and still get a good seal. I’ll definitely be using that trick this time round.

Anyone have any thoughts on where or what to use to connect these two? At the moment I can't really wander around hardware stores trying things on my own so am gonna have to source something online and pickup at store or have delivered. Two sizing options for the carb intake... Air box...

I'll take a look, thanks! Will this stuff stretch a mm or two over fittings? Yeah, I don't like the adapter either, but I bought it just in case. I thought the stock setup would still work with the adapter if I had to use it, but it's not even close with the new intake assembly. I assume a reduction of airflow the way that adapter does it basically kills and beneficial airflow characteristics of the larger bell mouthed carb.
