all thread is just easier to get in varying lengths and should be as strong as most cheap bolts atleast. many parts stores dont carry bolts that are threads only past about 35-45mm so its the main reason i suggested it. if you can get a bolt thats long enough id deff go that route though as less making it work.

Most likely going to be using two helicoils on CVT cover bolts since those time sert kits are so expensive. Tried my darndest to get the seized ones out, but they're in there good and just crumbled despite my best efforts. Can anyone tell me what goes here? Even looking on the parts schematics doesn't list anything. It's just there lol. It'll most likely end up securing my choke knob since I'm pretty sure it's non essential. It did have a little rubber boot on the bolt that was seized on it though.

I may be wrong, that was just a quick guess.

I run stock air box on my 2004 Zuma. My stock air box attaches to 2 bolts on the far left side of you picture of the CVT . That little knob you have circled has nothing attached to it on my zuma and has no function on the North American BWS . On other Minarelli Versions you will see a triangle shaped air box on top of the CVT. Genuine roughhouse is one example .

I was thinking about it and thought I remembered it having something to do with airflow, like maybe a mount for some type of breather tube or something? Something air box related seemed to make sense. Whatever it is for, it will likely end up being a mount for my choke cable in the near future lol.

Oh ok. Yeah, I’ve already removed that hideous thing they call a rear mudguard and have the replacement JDM which I paid way too much for and wish I would’ve just DIY’ed...

Been chipping away at getting the cases completely apart finally and cleaned. Just have the shock mount bushing, two bolts to drill and tap, and that damn pin that holds the center stand to go. That pin is warped a little and I'm having a hell of a time with it. Going to have to cut the pan head end off and try to tap it out backward because the end with the cotter pin is tweaked just enough to not want to move. Started wiping these filthy cases down with some degreasing wipes, which suck, but at least I'm starting to get an idea of what's under all the muck. Internally, the cases are in good shape, but any part that has been exposed to the elements is a little beat up looking and weathered. I think they're still usable though. What's everyone's favorite degreaser around here? I have Simple Green, that super strong industrial purple Zep, and muriatic acid (which would be overkill). The purple Zep I've used previously and it left the aluminum looking all discolored and blotchy, but I think I used a very strong concentration, so I may try that at a lower concentration or just full strength Simple Green.

Good luck with the stand. Mine was so corroded into the case, I had to drill all the way through. Not a fun hour!

Take it to the diy car wash and use the pressure washer to make quick work of all the grime.

Otherwise, I probably would've been scrubbing away in the tub haha. I was just asking what degreasers people prefer to soak or bring along to the car wash. I think some heavy duty simple green or very diluted Zep should do the trick.

I don't think corrosion is my issue (but could be) because it did move a bit, but it's stuck in there good. That's for sure. I swear everything on this scooter has fought me until the end coming off. It'll be nice to have it apart and all the threads cleaned and such so I can assemble and lube everything properly.
