Ok hey everyone gy6luver here (why did i ever use that handle lol) Got a question but here is some background as most of you may or may not know by now im taking a trip to florida in october on a scoot , you can read about it more here msj.4321fun.comI WAS going to be taking a roketa aruba 2011 but since the people i bought it from decided to ship it all the way to portland maine (35 miles from my liftgate drop location, my house) and then SHIP IT ALL THE WAY BACK to texas im not so sure i want to trust them to do it again, right now its my option to get a FULL REFUND or have them reship it. While in pep boys (anyone know where this is going) to get a bottle of starting fluid to test an issue on my current scoot the other day i was shocked to see a scoot on their sales floor. My question is which would you choose if you were going on my trip this one (which comes from texas , liftgate to my home for 889.00 all assembled with exception of mirrors and trunk, 7-10 days ship time) www.roketa.com/product/2610/0/59271.shtmlor this one (comes from local pep boys, 799.00 plus 69.00 dealer fee, and they assemble it there in 7 days time) www.bajamotorsports.net/categories/scooters/products/SC150_sc150-on-road-scooteryour help and advice will be very much appreciated thanks again!

They look like pretty much the same scoot to me. Very slightly different styling, but all the mechanical stuff under the skin should be the same. The only bad thing I see is that the Baja isn't showing a trunk included. You can get one of those easy enough though. I think it would be worth having to buy a trunk to know you'll have the scooter soon instead of wondering if it'll make it to you next time, especially with this big trip coming up.
I've seen a lot of Baja bashing over the years, so I'll add this just in case more pops up. I know nothing about the current Pep Boys line up, but when I bought my first scoot years ago a friend was looking at a Baja. I asked about them over at ScootDawg and was told to stay far away and it wasn't on par with my Vento. My friend ignored that advice and bought it anyway. I helped him assemble it and it turned out that half the body panels were stamped Vento. I'd say it was on par with any other Chinese scooters. Some are worse than others, but Roketa used to have one of the worst names too and it turns out a lot of those ended up being reliable scoots. One of those is sitting in my garage too, trouble free after a few years.
Also, when my friend bought his 50cc Baja they told him there would be a similar setup charge and about a day wait. After speaking to a couple of people they let him take it home in the box/crate after just a few minutes for them to get it to the back door and he didn't have to pay the setup fee. If you are comfortable assembling it and they have it in stock, you could try that.

Assembly often just involves installing the front wheel and screwing the mirrors on. It may come out of the box from them exactly the same as the one you were getting would.
I may have known that, but I read about a lot of scooters and I have a terrible memory anyway.
I'd be surprised if they let you test ride it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

so you would go with a baja if you had to choose? I am choosing a local Pep-Boys over Long distance snake Roketa\Goldenvale, not one bike over the other, the bikes are the same. but even if they were not, I would still go with Pep Boys knowing what I know about Roketa/Goldenvale. All Roketa\Goldenvale online orders come from the same warehouse. Since they do not have to deal with you face to face, they will rip you off any chance they get.

I hate both of these scoots. What on earth would I be doing with a 150 that has drum brakes at the rear?!? I'm a full-blown disc brake whore for both cars and bikes, truth be told. The prices sure are great though. Must admit.
