Speedy, love the words of wisdom, someone also mentioned that floor model may have tires rotting from the inside, things to think on thats for sure From the inside? i have changed a gazillion tires on every kind of car and truck you can imagine from the 50s on up and have never ever seen a tire that didnt look near new on the inside unless its been patched, plugged and fix-a-flatted to death. The main enemy of a tire is UV light. No light inside a tire obviously and no UV from florescent lamps like inside a showroom. I am glad you mentioned tires though. For your trip i would change the stock valve stems to these: kurveygirl.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=71Also take a plug kit and those little compressed air cylinders with you: www.partsforscooters.com/172-26-ATV-Motorcycle-Tire-Repair-Kitalso does that bike have a 4 way hazard flasher on it? if not, you can wire it up..there is a post here on how to do it somewhere...im sure Brent knows where it is.

If you do get one from Pep. Go with Dr.P 13.5-14gram sliders and you will be set for your whole trip. But yeah, dont expect 70+MPH constant. Both the ones i saw from Pep are still a-ok with a good amount of miles already. The one friend really like 14g sliders (only mod so far) and he reported 65MPH on the speedo sitting up. Some are better than others right outta the box. My brakes always seem to work the same unless im real hard on the rear and they get hot. No differences in the rain for me to report. Being 3-5 years old means much of nothing when they arent even ran and inside. BUT, it could mean a nice discount... I forgot to mention skipping the lil guys and going straight to the manager or his boss if they are around. Nitpick about the stuff you found and offer $700 cash and see what happens? Show him the cash as you remind him 'riding season is over and were are you going to put it when it snows?' LMAO works every time! Good luck

speedy, thanks for the advice your not on my route are ya!?
anyway yeah my kit has a tire repair kit plus a mini compressor that runs off the battery like the one brent suggested (in fact my tool kit looks VERY similiar to his, except the extra flashlights and such)
hmmm so the tires are good huh, FYI: everyone i just took my scoot (current scoot) out for a test run after i got the new carb and enricher in it, i cant beleive it but i went from a 47 mph (before carb change) to a 61 mph GPS Verified
that thing zooms like a rocket, only issue i have now is that the throttle cable is just a TINY bit to short, so i have to solve the problem of when im at idel she is revving and pulling forward, i tried bending the little clamp where the throttle screw sits on the carb but it only helps if i manually pull the throttle back after i rev,
oh the wonders of GY6 lol

also does that bike have a 4 way hazard flasher on it? if not, you can wire it up..there is a post here on how it to do it somewhere...im sure Brent knows where it is. speedy it does already have hazards and i found out my police strobes (dont ask former job leftovers) will fit in them, im going to change the bulbs out with my storbes, they are all white light and they alternate between sides of the bike, they are legal as long as they are in the flashers and im not passing people with them (like i was allowed in my former job) FYI: they are from whalen industries, they make real good stuff

since the pep bike has been inside and never seen sunlight i would think the tires are fine, but i would certainly replace the valve stems with the ones i posted above. like Robert said, some heavy slider weights from dr. pulley will ensure you always hit top gear and they wont flat-spot like round ones. get an orange safety vest too for the side of the road man you can never be too careful when working on a tire on the side of the road. I am in Cary NC west of Raleigh. Cant even see me on your NC map.

make sure you take the screen out of the CVT Air intake when you put the new sliders in or you will cook the belt, that screen they put in there is useless. are you planning to invest in a kevlar belt? i would.

on the left, that scoop lookin thing. there is a plastic thing with a metal screen in it and sometimes some foam. pop it out with a screwdriver, its only good for cooking belts.

hmmm....not trying to be a jerk - but if you can't assemble a scoot from a crate, you may not have the technical knowledge/ability needed to get one of these scoots thru a multi-state ride. Things happen.

Things happen. hey bigjeff, no i dont take offense to that at all, i can takwe wheels off, fix flats, take my cylinder apart, take the carb apart and rebuild it with my eyes closed, take the piston out of the cylinder , adjust cam chains and timing, adjust flywheels, rewire most electricla issues, desolder most electrical problems and resolder them, take the rear tire off, take the belt off the clutch WITHOUT use of an external tool, change my belt, take the cvt off and put it back on, adjust the speed on my scoot, fix the shocks, redo the brakes, align my bearings to get rid of wheel wobble, fix fuel leaks, fuel plugs, fuel lines, replace fuel lines, clean air cleaners, chage body parts, work on stator, battery, and fuses, work on solenoid, rectifier, fix lights, change bulbs, rewire and splice bad connections, troubleshoot electrical issues with meter, check for spark, check for compression, change oil, flush gear oil, Thats a small list short of taking the crankcase apart, which if that happens ill be done with teh trip anyway, I appreciate your concern, i have been practicing for a little while getting better every day did i miss something like you said stuff happens on the road
