Wife is getting herself electric tricycle in the next few days and I been on the dreaded internet looking at electric motors for my bicycle but really would like a tricycle to. Till it was pointed out by eldest daughter I was a responsible adult now and do I not have enough scooters. As soon as I started to justify it I knew Katie was right. She then said what about the last two side hacks you got over the road in the unit which I did point out were not my size so she said longer handlebar stem and seat post cheap electric kit that clips on frame and drives rear wheel by chain and you got one. I could not disagree with her so after Vespa done here comes my next project. I reckon with a quick working out should cost all in about $185 or in real money £150.
Time to look on Fleabay for a bit

Well tomindelaware nearly ordered all the parts all sourced in the U.K. Just going to check if I still got a charger first thing total cost to date is £115 that includes seat post xlong and xlong handlebar stem, complete motor kit and batteries. I reckons with connecter's, xlr socket and a charger a max of another £20 tops. Will update when parts arrive next week.

Poop the motor kit I bought wont fit the rer triagle of the frame so loks like I need a 20" wheel with motor built in and put that motor on a future bike. At least I can use the control unit and bits that came with it if I find a cheap wheel. To be continued....

When i first saw the hack i was like damn it's on the wrong side ! lol In the US 99% right hand then it hit me i am a dumbass he is in Europe! lol
No there is no official rule on what side the hack is on but it's funny how we all follow a predetermined set of rules in our minds because of what region or country your in ! lol

I thought you put the motor on the front peddle sprocket, not the rear wheel. Or did I misunderstand?

No this one sits outboard of the frame stays and a shaft with sprocket protrude into the chain line and you have a chain from that to rear sprocket. Its really designed for single speed and you just add the extra sprocket supplied in the kit. Mounting it on multi gear cogs mean you lose one gear usually. I will try to get pics of what I mean Tom
