lol im getting mixed messages lol Skip the part on that tire thread where he actually takes the tires off. Do this by an air compressor at a gas station, a friend who has an air compressor...whatever. Step one: remove the core to let the air out. Step two: using the clamp I showed, squeeze the tire together by the hole where the stem goes Step three: cut the old stem out Step four: remove the core from the new stem Step five: install new stem Step six: remove clamp Step seven: shoot air into the tire to set the bead Step eight: screw the core back in Step nine: inflate to 40 psi Step ten: drive on your way

Raven just posted that thread to show you visually how you do this using a vice but using the clamp is the same thing. trust me if you can do the PDI like you have done, you can do this. that tire shop is just trying to make money off you. how much do they want to do this anyway?

here is the clamp at northern tool, $5 www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_523343_523343As I said, I have done this with no clamp at all but it is much easier with it because it holds the tire out of the way of the hole so you can use both your hands on the stem, one to hold the stem in, the other to put the rubber seal then retainer then the locking nuts. snug the first nut down but not gorilla tight, just good and snug so that the rubber compresses to make a good seal. then tighten the 2nd nut down on the first one good and tight so that it locks the first nut down. instructions: kurveygirl.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=169&products_id=71
