well ig ot the new scoot, and since its not old and broken down i am finding lots of stuff that wasnt on the old one
so questions arise
1. the filter looking thing on the front of the CVT, take it off or leave it on for my trip.
2. the spark plug had a torch, ill replace that with NGK, but the WIRE itself has a long metal cylinder that the plug hooks to, get rid of that and get an NGK plug head or keep it as well?
3. annoying beeping noise when blinkers or hazards active, my guess is im looking for a tiny speaker to terminate ?
4. the scoot is brand new i have 30 or so miles on it, do i need to pull the valve cover off and check valves or can i wait?
5. unlike my older scoot this scoot seems to have the EGR setup on the machine, can i remove all this easily and if i do is there a benefit to doing so, or should i justl eave it all as is?
6. the valve stems on the tires all look real solid, do i HAVE TO replace these now?
7. I am thinking about machining the CVT cover by the clutch to allow more heat to escape the cvt, would you reccomend it for the trip?
8. down under the seat along the side above the side panels there is black plastic, i would like to replace that with chrome covers to allow more air flow across the engine, good idea or waste of money?
9. Throttle on the scoot is incredibly sloppy, is this normal and should i tighten her up or leave it as is?
10. The front of the scoot clunks sometimes when i hit a bump, where should i check this over (the scoot is all apart right now) i think its maybe the shock bottoming out but i dont hit the bumps that hard?
11. I am feeling vibrations in the scoot at 60 or so low speeds seem to be fine, tire balancing (if so how) or bad tires? Someone told me that vibration at that speed could just be normal
12. im sure ill come up with more as time goes on, thanks for any answers!

1) I'd take it off. I like airflow.
2) I have been very pleased with the NGK caps.
3) Could be the flasher? See if you can track it down and see if it's coming from a speaker somewhere or the flasher.
4) It's not a bad idea to check, but if it's running well it's not necessary. I'd definitely go over them before the big trip just to be sure.
5) The big benefit to removing that stuff is just to have less in the way and less to go wrong.
6) Some folks think that's the most important thing to change, some don't. I've got Chinese valve stems in a couple of scoots and as long as they aren't cracking or anything they don't worry me. I think the important part is that you are inspecting them and keeping an eye on them.
7) I vent every CVT cover I have. It helps keep things much cooler and I've rode in rain with no issues. Many miles between all my scoots. Really the biggest downside to venting one is just that you could lose a part. I've had a variator come apart and I've lost the nut and washer and stuff because of vents. Worth the risk IMO.
8) I'm probably missing something here. You think more air will flow cause it's chrome or are these covers vented or something?
9) Tighten it up some, leave a small amount of slack.
10) I'd check all the nuts and bolts attaching the wheel, brakes, forks, etc... first. Look for any signs of contact that would show that the shocks are too soft. Check stiffness of the front shocks. If too loose you may wanna add more oil to each one.
11) Chinese tires are notorious for this. Good tires will usually help.

8) Not worth that money IMO. Cut a vent in what you have if it really worries you.

1) I'd take it off like i said before 2) i'd leave that it keeps heat from melting/cracking the plug boot 3) id leave that too. its hard to get used to turning OFF the blinker on a scoot. they dont self cancel like a car so when you turn and then forget to turn it off, someone could think you are going to turn then turn in front of you=youre dead or severely injured 4) i would adjust them 5) what Brent said 6) going from maine to florida on stock chinese 90 angle valve stems is just asking for a flat. and you dont have to take the tires off to do it, its easy. use these: kurveygirl.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=169&products_id=71If you dont want to do it please stop asking i mean do you WANT to be sitting by the road with a flat? 7)yes do that 8) waste of $ 9)adjust 10)what Brent said plus the steering stem nuts the big ones 11) take the wheels to a cycle shop and have them balanced if its really bothering you. on such a long trip it would drive me nuts if it was too bad.

If you like them, I guess they're worth the $25. Dunno how much they'll really do. Can't hurt, might not help much?

while were at it i noticed the luggage rack on the back of this scoot is only rated for 5.0 Kilograms (11.023 pounds) and i dont think that will be near enough strong for this trunk cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160645117978&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAXthis will be going on the back gfor my trip and is already on its way to me now As you can see from me buying stems i haven o issue listening to solid advice and acting on it to increase my chances of a successful trip open to ideas and suggestions about a cost effective way to mount this trunk!

they say 11 lbs as a "cover out butts" type thing, i wouldn't think twice about putting that trunk on. it should be fine.

one of my valve stem caps has a valve core tool on it to take the valve core out, yours might as well. if not you will need to buy one. dunno if you have ever done a valve stem but you take the core out to let the air out instead of just pushing it in, that takes forever. take the core out of the new one too, in order to set the tire bead. once the bead is set then put the core in and put pressure to proper level. I use one of these to squeeze the tire together after the air is out in order to install the valve stems www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200323795_200323795
