84 teikei jet needle 1 clip rich eliminated the hanging idle . The 90 was just a touch to rich With the 5 gram sliders full belt travel to within 2 mm
Pushed to 10,300 rpms with 5 grams 56 mph today The Malossi BBK paired with the Yasuni R peaked below 10 K so The Athena Overshoots Up Top it by about 400-500 rpms .

Comparing the Cast Iron Malossi to the Athena Sport both paired with The Yasuni R .
The Athena out of the box is a notch quicker 0-40 mph then the Malossi with exhaust port raised a mm. The Athena is also out reving the Malossi with power by 400-500 rpms so Top Speed is a little higher.
You could work Up the Malossi to match bottom end acceleration or the top speed but not both . By dialing the squish closer and changing port timing .
The single ring advantage makes it alot more Revvy Which gives a notch more power . It likes a half gram lighter weights than the Malossi . Cast Iron has a longer Life and is more Forgiving to Carb Tuning Errors .
I change stuff every other year any ways so longevity is not as critical. I had used a Athena in the past But that was with a Leo Vince The Yasuni R is a way better pipe to pair with. The Yasuni Pair out Revs the Leo pairing by about 1000 rpms . I Have 200 miles on the build so it has room to loosen up and rev higher .

Great insight. The Yasuni is definitely worth The extra over a cheaper pipe. Even with just a 50cc cylinder I gained nearly 10mph more top speed over a next R. The Malossi and Polini sport are all about longevity. Being 40% bigger than standard and a better design gives good performance over a very long time. I would of thought the Athena is aimed more at the street race cylinder.

This is the variator holding tool so you dont have to use a impact and wreck your crankshaft from overzealousness I bought all these tools when I just needed to be add something to qualify for free shipping .They work extremely well and are well worth getting ahold of.

This is the clutch holding tool I use the block of wood so the handle of the tool bites in as I torque it on and off

This is how to take off the clutch nut and put it on just a couple raps with the handle on cement Tightens the Nut right to the required torque

I have recently started using my clutch holding tool like yours. I used to use a strap wrench before. It got used so much it broke! I found like you, you need to have the arm resting on something. Otherwise it's a right pain to undo the nut. Just not enough leverage.

I had a gasket go bad It is on back order and will take a couple weeks . Pulled a image off line For a template My daughter used her editing skills to up size it so it matched up to the bolt holes . Used some paper hole punches to get the bolt holes right and Razor Blade Knife.

Been ripping around Over 300 miles on the build . Buries the needle quick enough . 55-56 mph is where she is peaking out at . I am still on the stock carb so That is what is holding me back.
The Yasuni R and Athena with the stock Carb peak at 10 k rpms with full belt travel. I have the 11 to 1 gears . So next rainy day stretch . Is probably when I swap on the 19 mm dellorto carb on .

Did a little tuning with some genuine Mikuni Jets I had a cheap Glixal mikuni kit They are close but a 90 jet gurgles with glixal but runs right on the genuine mikuni. Here are 2 70s jets and one glixal the inside diameter is the same all the out specs are the same but the angle and depth of jets are different . The Glixals act about a 1/2 size bigger than they are .

After about a half dozen runs for those that run the stock carb and want to up grade jets . And want to have more option than the yamaha jets . Here is the order Leaner to Richer Teikei =T Mikuni =M T80 ,T82 ,M85,T84 M87.5 ,M90
When I was tuning today the 84 teikei M 87.5 and Mikuni 90 all gave me the same top speed so I went with the Mikuni 90 for safety . The Mikuni 87.5 is just slightly richer than the Teikei 84 . I found the genuine Mikuni 85 to be just a notch leaner than the 84 Teikei but they were close . I got the genuine mikuni jets through JETSRUS.com.
If you buy Knock off Mikuni Jets you are going to need to buy a lot wider range to allow for quality in casting differences .

It has been so long since I have run a stock pipe with a kit . I forgot how torquey the stock pipes are at low rpms . A quick and easy build for a 2002 -2005 Zuma That Buries the needle Swap on a sport kit cast iron malossi polini top performance stage 6 Keep the stock pipe up jet the stock carb 84 jet lower the needle a clip Get a sport variator . Swap in some Gears to get you to 11 to 1 . After she is dialed in you will Break 50 mph and have plenty of down low torque . This is the way they should have made the Stock Zuma IMHO. 400 bucks gets you To 50 mph if you did it on your own. I just got a 2005 Zuma bone stock with only 550 miles on it. Hitting about 38mph max and looking for upgrades. Your above advice looks right around what I am looking for. Before finding this great thread and forum I ordered the Technigas Silent Pro pipe (unrestricted), Athena 70cc kit, Zuma performance carb kit with 95 jet, and Minarelli performance air box setup for 70cc sport from Scootertronics. Now I am thinking I should have just went with a Malossi cast iron instead of the Athena kit so I can have more forgiveness on the tuning side of things and with the Silent Pro pipe I probably won't get full benefits from the Athena kit anyway. Any thoughts on this? Now it looks like next I need to get a variator and gears. Looking to get the Malossi multi var but what gears should I look at to get me 11 to 1?
