I will probably rip on this pipe for awhile . I am looking for a new scoot to build over the winter Or I might swap gears into the vino's
Gutiwarriors 70 mph vino on the speed list have got me thinking about doing a small upgrade to them .

Hey Zino how many turns out is your air mixture screw on your carb? After installing my Malossi BBK with the Vino 46 pilot and Mikuni 85 main using stock exhaust I had to turn the air mixture a good 3.5 turns out so that's an extra 2 turns from stock which was 1.5 for me. The idle is much better now but I am afraid of running too lean so curious what yours is at.

Of course nothing goes as planned . I had It all stripped down Took of the old carb I was a little short on connections from helping out some buddies . I had to order some dellorto parts and a full size stage 6 choke From Treatland . I was originally going to mount the choke on top of my Cvt with a short cabled choke Got lucky opened my email and they had just sent me a 15 % off coupon .
So I was down for a week should have it buttoned up middle next week . Going on Vacation.

19 mm delorto
Set at 2 turns out 40 pilot Clip in the middle Started with the 92 main Seems a little rich .
I will tune it in later this week

Rewind on tuning 19 mm carb Stock was 50 pilot 92 main needle middle clip. Just gurgly at idle stumbled a bit when slapping wide open . Really low temps 130 degrees at idle Swapped to 40 pilot more snap on transition to needle no stumble Dirt bike revvy. Set idle at 1800 rpms 2 turns out had smooth idle .

You got me thinking....perhaps my bottom end might be pilot related....

You got me thinking....perhaps my bottom end might be pilot related.... The 50 pilot was so rich that I could not raise the idle speed above 1400 rpms even with the idle speed screw all the way in Idle temps would hover around 130 degrees even after 10 minutes of idling . It would just gurgle and hard to rev up . Once I switched to the 40 pilot It was dirt bike revvy. That is the biggest tip for all throttle settings it should rev with no hesitation at every throttle position any lag/hesitation you are either rich or lean . That is why we run from way to rich on down so you can progressively get better. The Idle speed was easy to raise and lower after the swap of the pilot Temps after 10 minutes were closer at idle to 190 degrees similar to stock carb Set the idle mixture below 1 1/2 turns out it was a tad lean (The idle was faster but not smooth) Between 1 1/2 to 2 turn it was very smooth, So I left it at 2 turns out.

Good information. Mine gets up to temp at idle just fine. It just doesn’t seem to respond much to incremental mixture screw adjustments, which I’m going to follow your advice and try another needle clip position up to see if it changes anything. My buddy has a bbk kit that was dealer installed and takeoff revving is smooth and clutch engagement seems faster, but he has no idea of the setup. Mine seems snappier than his after rolling though and he has stock pipe.

Cvt and Carb tuning can feel similar . For example Too light of weights can feel like a lean circuit on the carb no power lots of revving. Too heavy weights can feel like a too rich bog .
Clutch springs are so important if you add any expansion pipe to get right for low end take off paired with light enough weights that shift after the clutch engages .
My cvt was in a real good tune so I know everything I am adjusting is carb related .
I eventaully will swap back to the Yasuni R Need to get the carb sorted out first before I change another variable.

Had about 2 hours to do some dialing inthe main Speed runs with jets 92 51 mph gurgly strong smell of gas 88 52 mph deep sound slighty faster at 3/4 throttle 280 degrees wide open 85 53 mph deep sound better power 290 degress wide open 82 54 mph loud sound more power 300 degrees wide open temp
It feels and sounds real close . The wide open temps are after a 7 mile run and are temps that level off and hold .
The needle needs to go at least one clip rich on the 82 .
Did not have time to try the 80 .

Finished up the carb tuning ripped around for about 3 hours setting the main and needle put on about 50 miles I live in the country so I cam tune on some wide open 5 plus mile stretches today was the wide open torture test From my last tuning run 82 main felt close Reran 82 for a base line today 82 good power 53-54 mph temps leveled off at below 315 degrees on a 10 mile mostly wide open run 80 good power 53-54 mph temps moved above 335 and then spiked to 350 would not find a level tempature . So the 82 was the safe jet the other night pushed just over 300 degrees today stayed below 315 degrees .
Dialed in the needle counting from the top position as 1 I settled on position 3 .
It felt the same as position 2 but as I came off long wide open run the temps would hold and come down and with position 2 they would drift up . I prefer it this way to prevent seizing coming off the throttle
Both position 2 and 3 ,Were rich enough to bring the idle down at stop signs .
So right now Here is what my settings are 82 main clip position 3 40 pilot 2 turns out

I'm like you. Would always sacrifice total performance, for a safe reliable scooter.
