Well I took Kym to work on Thursday. Did surprisingly well. Ran 50 mph most of the way (35 mile trip) and anything over 3/4 throttle and it would beat the hell out of the "limiter". GPS said I hit 52.7 max. Now I have a "unlimited" orange cdi, but still there is a limiter. Gonna try my max advanced yellow CDI and see if the limiter is still noticable. Although im thinking that with a proper sized belt and this limiter issue solved I'm sure that Kym would run 60 mph all day. On another note, while looking threw my stock pile of scoot parts, I found a another 50mm flattop piston and ring set and a 69mm big valve(20/18.5mm)stock port head for a 50mm bore. Gives me the slight urge to hone out that 50mm bore for another 81cc ready to run kit to have on hand. And the head makes me want to get a 69mm head for a 47mm or even a stock bore and do some more head work. Thou if I were to do that I will HAVE to put an oil cooler on her. But before I do all that, im gonna check into having a 2t swap done. I have 2 (3 by the morning) 2t engines on hand that could be swapped. A Franco Morini from a TGB Laser, a 2008 Yamaha Zuma(whole bike no title) and a whole CPI(will have that in the morning). My ideal swap would be either a Kymco ZX50 or Honda af18 vertical swap.

Are there gears to swap in the Kymco to beat the rpm limiter .

Are there gears to swap in the Kymco to beat the rpm limiter . Yeah, I'm at 17/49 sec now. Hoca makes 16/46 and 18/42. Would like to put 18/42 in but im pretty sure the accel would completely go to shite. Currently fastest 0-40 is 13.23

You have collected some good engines to swap over. @ troke power on the way.

Switching gears for a moment from Oliver. My 4 stroke goal for Kym is dangerously close. Apparently my "rev limiter" is the sign it's too rich. So far the only thing I've done is rejet from 95 to 92. And it's 91° in Delmar DE right now. Edit. Just realized that you can't really see the max speed cause of my dumb notification. It's 57.7 mph

Well with 1000km put on the 47 kit, I'm able to hit and hold anywhere from 52 to 57, on its own (tucked). And I'm pretty sure I hit 60 today drafting behind a Tahoe. The only thing I need to do is put a air filter on it. I've got the tube from the stock airbox on without anything right now, and don't wish to suck up a rock or something. I want to do some more CVT tuning, feel like im leaving something on the table, but just not been in the right frame of mind to do so this week. Oh yeah and I'm getting mid 80s to 90 MPG Current mod list 47mm China bbk Ported and "polished" 18.5/16 valve STOCK head and port matched intake "A9" cam StG shorty pipe 18.5mm CVK jetted at 34/92 49/17 upgear (9.367 final) 729/17.5-30 eBay Kevlar belt (1uz?) 1k contra and 5.83g sliders Next round of mods or things to try( in no particular order) 738/18-30 Kevlar belt Oil cooler 1.5k Contra Adjustable "racing" clutch Lighter clutch bell 24 or 26mm CVK and performance style 35mm intake ( as I believe it will flow better then a 150cc as i think they are smaller at 32mm) Building a BVH from a 69mm stocker (if I can find the valves again) Don't wanna sound a 🐓, but I am going for the speed list and plan to hurt feelings. Lol 😎😎

I've been reading through this since I've been fussing with my kym... although newer it's still a 50. I'm extra interested in your carb settings and air filter your using. I'm using my stock air box opened up where the snorkel usually attached. My stock jets were 35/80. After opening the intake up, I couldnt really get it to move off slow jet. Upjetted main to 85 and became slightly better. Upped to a 90, still a little better but I've been fighting a transition flatness, like audibly tou could hear it fall out of power during the transition then it would slowly pick back up. I've now shimmed my needle 1.0mm and it doesnt sound or feel like it drops power...just feels like it's very under powered, but if I cover the inlet...she dies of power, and if I remove the shims... still wont accelerate... I feel stumped..but it's just wierd your jets are smaller than mine, yet yours flies
Sorry not trying to hijack lol

80 -90 miles to the gallon and 55 plus . 4 strokes have a big advantages there .
Mph on my 2 stroke is higher than my miles per gallon.

Agreed, because Becky would pass everything but the gas station. Ive gotta put a new belt on Kym today. With some luck and maybe a bit of tuning i may be putting my submission in over the weekend

They just don't have a lot of power or torque stock. But if you are still running the electric enrichener that could be the root of your issue. Meaning it is still adding more fuel even when hot, which leads to a boggy powerless condition. I'd switch to a manual choke and then try tuning again

Is there a cheap option for this? My wife thinks there shouldnt be any reason to mess with the scooter since "its new". She doesnt understand carbs need tuned for their final operation area and conditions...and stuff can go bad. I found my spark plug wire all dry rotted and cracked at the coil. I still have spark but it wouldnt surprise me if I'm somehow not fighting a bunch of little issues compounding. And thank you for your input and helping. I've gotten mine up to like... 44... definitely a bit unnerving when your not sure if the platform will take that lol

Put a new belt on and had to put a .5 mm shim in. Also put a Naraku 1500 contra on, due to the belt slipping with the 1k that ive been using. Now when you grab the belt it turns everything and don't slip on the vari. I also put a 37.7 ish mm boss in as well. Belt sits higher with this belt, which is a vaipai VS(unsure of name at this moment), 729x17.7. Seems to be quicker. Gonna take it for break in ride and recheck the where the belt is sitting. I've also swapped from the 5.8 gram sliders to 5 & 7 gram rollers. Which before I changed the belt I just did the roller swap and it was wanting to spin the tire with just a breath on the throttle. I also got Kym to pull the front wheel. 😁😎. Changed the plug, this is the Autolite 4194 been using. I swapped to a NGK cr8hsa. Which is a range colder then the stock plug; CR7HSA. But it appears that the Autolite is already a range colder, Autolite on left and NGK on right. should go ahead and change the oil as well but it'll hold for now.

Holy crap. Well hopefully you get it running again soon. You dont happen to have acceleration graphs do you? I'm curious how it picks up compared to mine? I'm sure it blows it out of the water lol
