Work has really picked up around here so I have not had much time to work on this project. I have heard nothing from the guy who is helping me with the fuel tank parts, I assume he is busy too! I did manage to get the upper frame mount welded into place. Not my best work as it was difficult to get it tacked and welded up in the correct position.

Is that a used wrist pin? Good eye! Lol I had to cut it down a bit. It was pretty tough to cut, I think it trashed my porta band blade. The bench grinder took care of the rest of it!

It's the cylinder skirt that's blocking part of the intake port or window

It's the cylinder skirt that's blocking part of the intake port or window With the piston at BDC TDC reach through the exhaust port with a marker and mark the exhaust port on the piston. Remove piston and trim the skirt, making sure to leave enough piston to completely cover exhaust port at BDC. I have trimmed too much on occasion and had to get a new piston.

Don’t you mean to mark the piston when it’s at top dead center where it overlaps exhaust port? Surely if the piston is covering the exhaust port at bottom dead center that’s probably not a good area of the piston to trim

Sorry, I have only used the PHBG's quite a bit. I did try a Polini PWK once, I had a hell of a time tuning that carb. The PWK's are notorious for having a difficult to tune low/mid. However I was happy with the top end performance.

It has been over 9 months since I dropped the tank pattern and the sheet of metal off at my landlords shop. I saw him several times and he always said he would get it done soon. I stopped by his shop earlier this week to see If I could just get my metal and tank pattern back so I could just trace it out and do it myself. He said "I can whip it out in an hour" and told me he would call me in a day or two. Well he called me today and said it is done. He cut 8 sides and 4 4" wide strips that will form the rest of the tank. Maybe now I can get motivated to get moving again on this project. I am not blaming him for the lack of progress on this project, there are lots of other contributing reasons nothing has gotten done for 9 months. Hopefully my motivation will return soon, I would really like to finish this thing, one day......
