There are covers that are better for big ass pulleys. Some have more room stock and don't need much work. These days, covers are harder to find at a reasonable price than I ever recall though. The ATV covers are one that are often larger, but they may also be deeper. Deeper means the shaft won't go into the cover bearing as much. . I can confirm on the short case the atv cover lines up really well with the bearing fitting perfectly. What I cant confirm is the fitment for the longer case one :/

I checked on my belt order. Scooter parts co flagged my order and asked off I’d like another belt since the old 835 belt was discontinued. They didn’t email me or call even though it’s on file just flagged the order and went about their business.
Irritating

Well that was an interesting evening Rode my scooter down to my moms house so I could take her out to the grocery store. It was 98°F here today so it felt good to get out on the scooter. No problems going down to her house which is about 15 miles from my house. I was there three hours and when I went to leave the scoot would not start. Check switches check the key check for fuel even pulled the spark plug and I had spark. Remove the air filter and held my hand across the carburetor to force fuel into it. I bet I kicked it for 10 minutes straight out of desperation. It finally made a putt sound so I kept on kicking. It started but it did not want to. I wrote at home the 15 miles with no problems other than I realized my tag light is burned out.
Is it time to pull the head and the cylinder and see if there’s anything going on internally?

Dunno. I had plug out and it was sparking but I’m not sure if a fouled plug sparks at all abs how much isn’t enough. I’ll swap out sometime Saturday.

Recently I had two strange no start then perfect running episodes, the first was a coil failing, small spark? it,s a matter of judgement but a new coil solved the problem,2nd was unproved but! I fitted a side stand ,scoot refused to start unless I tipped it upright, easy enough to cross off your list.

Geoff, the upright start, was it fuel level in the carb or the switch on the stand? I have a spare low mileage coil, I may try to swap out. The plug is only a 250mile plug if that.

Check spark strength if possible with a large gap tester or at least a plug with the ground strap cut off or bent back. Even if that looks OK, try another CDI.
When I got my first Triton, it would run great... but refused to start on it's own when it was cold. I could use carb cleaner or starting fluid and get it going. Thought it was the carb, but didn't get anywhere there. Stuck an iridium in there that did work as a bit of a crutch. It was more likely to start at least. Then I rode when it was damp out one night and it was breaking up. After that, I replaced the coil and wire assy. It was fine after. Again, I would have never thought anything was wrong with it on dry days once it was running.
CDIs have also done some odd things for me. T2 was running OK, but fouling plugs like crazy till I replaced the CDI at one point. I've had everything seem OK, but the tach displayed odd figures with at least 2 CDIs that I recall. Both CDIs were failing. One was the same one that fouled plugs and the other totally quit a little while after it started making the tach reading off.
You can also do resistance checks on the wire and the cap and the coil. You can check output on the exciter and pickup wires from the stator.

I have had the tachometer indicate off the graph a few times when it approached 10krpm. I figured it was just my $25 speedometer cluster.
