Dropped the needle down to first notch. Cleaned up the rough low speed irregular heartbeat. Still feels flat at WOT though. 3/4ish throttle has more umph than WO. Not sure why that is....... Ride around on the 3/4 (sweet spot) and see if the temps creep up or hold steady. If temps start to creep up you are leanish, so increase throttle position slightly and see if there is a point temps stop creeping up and level out. If temps start creeping down as you add throttle past 3/4 that would indicate you are getting richer beyond that point.

I keep going up in jets. I’m up to an 82 and the WOT dead spot is almost gone. Not quite though. I’ll go up to an 84 Wednesday and ride some more.

84 installed. Feels decent. Went for a longer ride. Ventured more than 1/2 mile from the house. Gonna try and go up to an 85 and see what it feels like. Still very mildly flattish from 7/8>WOT. Feels better at 7/8ths. I have a guy who I trust to cut my Gianelli apart and remove the screen, I’m darn tempted. Who needs to hear grandkids when you can ride fast?

86 Going once, going twice, SOLD!
Now to work on that damn WOT launch. It starts to pull at 4-5k, on launch it grabs at 6k. Of course bogs trying to get to the 8k sweet spot. I used to (back in the day) have another Variator setup much better. That was several belts and a few mix matched varios ago. I think I need to lose weight. Maybe drill some more holes in my clutch arms.

Soon you will be needing a new clutch.

Took variator apart today. I was running a mix of 4/5g Dr Pulley sliders. I took out the three 5’s and went straight 4g’s. Rpms pick up much better. Launch is still a bit bodgy but it does come up on the pipe nice pretty quickly and stays at 9-10k then. Feels right.

I had to adjust shims from the wear on the old belt. My first take off I muttered, “Oh Jesus” into my helmet. Launch is so much more exciting now.

I'm curious about the 'lightening' holes you've put in the clutch. Since its centrifugal doesn't the weight help keep it engaged?

Yes but….. the springs hold it disengaged and without stronger springs it engages too early. I don’t have enough HP for slippage at speed.

So I leaned the needle out tonight, during sustained low speed travel it would burble and act like it was rich. The leaning of the needle seems to have addressed that.
Now, problem I’ve had for awhile is that sustained WOT causes loss of power. If I gun it away from a stop it’ll easily climb to 10k rpm and accelerate briskly. Once under way though if I go to WOT it’ll start to pull but then acts like “limp mode” reducing power etc all around 8.5-9k rpm while attempting to rev into the fun zone. Go to idle and turn at an intersection, open up, it goes fine until it uses the fuel supply then it starts again. Is the float height perhaps the culprit or is it fuel flow again? Frustrating. I’m sooo close.

Hard to say without being there. Sounds like it is struggling to get back on the pipe. Is it possible the CVT is not downshifting properly? If it is good from stop, but nada when you are rolling and get back into the throttle? You could try a size larger main, or just pull the choke when it happens to see if the extra fuel helps. I doubt it is fuel flow or delivery, it usually boils down to carb and CVT adjustment. How are the temps doing when it happens? Whoever says 2T's with CVT's are easy to tune has probably never tuned one
