Something has been bothering me about my new scooter. At first I thought it was weird to have my feet in that platform when muscle memory had me looking for foot pedals. Finally realized it was that my feet don't rest firmly on the ground when it's idling. Instead I'm on tippy-toes trying to balance as it starts moving. Any idea if the seat will compress any with use? I think that might solve my problem. Otherwise, could the seat be trimmed an inch or two so that I sit lower?
TIA,

Possibly there is an adjustment on the rear shock that MIGHT help it sit lower. You could also get a shorter shock if there is enough clearance for the scoot to sit lower.
The seat cover could likely be unstapled, the foam trimmed down a bit then the cover re-stretched and re-stapled.

The seat will compress a little. Probably not as much as you would like though. I have two high scooters. I just ride them like I do motorcycles. Just put one foot down, and slightly move over to the left of the seat. If your scooter has adjustable shocks. You could try lowering the preload. It's a stepped ring on the bottom.

I think this is it. I imagine there's a special tool for rotating the shock down but a big channel-lock should work if I don't mind scratching the chrome.

I checked the other side and see there's an ALlen bolt that might need to be loosened before adjustment changes. Do I need to unbolt the shock at both ends or just the bottom for lowering? TIA, kevino

That adjustment wont lower your scooter any just firm the spring or soften it . Like oldgeek said pull the seat remove staples shave foam re staple or have a upholstery shop do it for you I have had seats recovered in three colors it only cost me 35 bucks ..
One more thing your scooter PDI's with the tools that adjust your rear shock just most shops pull them out ...

I lost the first line of the post. It said, "I checked the other side and can see..."

I still think it's worth adjusting the coils just to see if it helps even a little. But I already bitched up the Allen bolt by using the wrong wrench. So now I gotta pull the shocks off so I can use a vise grip to make any adjustment. How much force is the spring under? IF I unbolt top and bottom, will I be able to compress the springs enough to put the bolts back???
I called the dealership. He agreed using channel-lock and vise grips would be okay.

We've got 35 years of tools and parts piled up in the yard. I'm pretty sure I have an adjustment wrench from a VW-dune buggy I built years ago.

The simplest tasks take the longest time. I want to lower the rear shocks but I need to remove both shocks to do that. I needed 8 and 10mm sockets and a Philips and a long lever to get one shock off. Then adjusting it with a pipe wrench and vise grip. My 64yr old eyes thought there was an allen nut acting as a lock but no, it's just a useless port.

Thank you for the suggestion. When I retired and we left Wyoming I threw out all of my steel-toe cowboy work-boots. We're in Connecticut now and no longer working.

You can also find shocks on Amazon fairly cheap and they usually come in 5 mm increments.
