I have ordered a dellorto 17.5m carb for the bike.. what’s the General increase with jetting going from 12 to 17mm. I’m running an 88 jet with the 12.. wondering roughly how much higher I’ll need to go and what jets to order.. I’m guessing it won’t be a huge increase?

It's hard to know as every bike is different. But a 17.5mm carb, and a sports kit you usually end up in the high 80's, or low 90's. On my slider with the Dellorto, Polini sport, and a Yasuni R, I ended up with an 82 jet. The aerox with a stage 6 street race, and stage 6 pro rep, was a 92, IIRC. Brent has a few jetting examples here 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1266I would get a jet kit and work down.

Cool thanks, I don’t think I explained what I meant to well lol, I was wondering if the increase in carb size from 12 to 17 necessarily means a big jump in jet size from what the 12mm is running but from your post I’m guessing not I’ll get some In the mid 90s and work my way back to the 88 thanks again aeroxbud

You normally increase the jet size, because the bigger carb will flow more air. More air needs more fuel. I usually start around 100 for a sport 70. Then it will run rubbish. If it's really bad jump down a couple of sizes at a time. Then when it starts to run better with out the bog, go down one size at a time. You can then get it in the ball park quite quickly.

Ok got it. thank you..I’m fairly experienced with the Actual jetting just wasn’t sure how much of an increase as a rule of thumb, between the two carb sizes

Don't throw your old air box away. The reproduction ones are a different shape. Will be hard to find a genuine one later on.

That’s the air box that came with the bike aeroxbud I do have a genuine one from the original 1990 motor but it’s a bit battered

Started at 99, wouldn’t pull away so worked my way down two sizes at a time to 93 now running clean. I thought it felt a tad rich on the little run I went on so stepped down to a 91 jet, felt exactly the same so went back to the 93

If I put a switch in the head light wiring to turn them off! The rear light would still be on, it would just be killing the power to the front head lights, would that be ok? As far as the rectifier/stator go’s
Is it likely to damage anything while the front light are switched off

Mmm ok, thanks for the reply appreciate that. I’ll look into it a little further first then.. my loom and engine are from a 2007 bike so could be as you say

Been messing with the air box a little today opened up the snorkel/air hole a little more and have managed to get the jet from a 93 to a 97, I feel like I am feeling the full potential of the new carb now

I tried removing the snorkel on the slider. It did improve performance a little. But kept filling the air box with water without it fitted. So no good for a daily driver. 😬
