Hello my friends! I picked up a longcase QMB motor with 13" wheel today for my 52x44 stroker build. The bike that this motor came out of is in Florida. Apparently what you see was all that was worth keeping when the guy had to move here to N.C. Picked it up for $100 cash It was running when removed so he says, and it has good compression. I would have liked to find a longcase with disc brake locally but this will have to do. At $100 I have $195 left over from what I was planning to buy to now put towards parts. Up next: The Teardown. Stay tuned!

Glad you got your spare motor. I'm very curious to see how the build goes and how the scoot goes with it. ;D

Glad you got your spare motor. I'm very curious to see how the build goes and how the scoot goes with it. ;D I started to let it pass since all i knew was 'its a qmb motor', but decided to go look. A complete longcase drivetrain with 13" wheel was a nice surprise. Yesterday I got an email from a guy who had just assembled a QT-3 bike and it wouldn't rev up. Turns out the gas tank had sweated on the inside from sitting with no gas in it when the weather got cold the few night prior to assembly, the warming up during the day. Point is i had to take it apart, remove and clean the gas tank out and he wanted a valve adjustment too. The profit from all that bought this motor

I wonder what the '-a' signifies?

I am also really happy with the design of the rear wheel. Its not an exact match for the front 10'" wheel but its really really close. I plan to run the 10" up front and this 13" in the rear with a 130/70-12 tire, rear fender delete and everything blacked out including the wheels, and bar end mirrors. Going to lower the rear 2.5 inches.
If you all remember the 'nasty back niner' from eurpoe, thats the look im going for. i hope the longcase gives it a bit of a longer swingarm appearance.

This is not a longcase apparently. its a 'long' shortcase. Takes a 723 belt instead of 669. Long enough to put a 13" wheel on so it works

'Qingqi has been manufacturing engines for SUZUKI (JAPAN) technically from 1985. In 1996, they worked with Suzuki to develop new products for Suzuki to build into their product models sold world wide. Suzuki even owns a small percentage of Qingqi and keeps their QM and engineering staff on site to assist Qingqi in the development of it's new engines and products. Qingqi has learned a lot about product development and building quality products from their dealings with Suzuki. They are now the first most common scooter brand in China. It is because of their abilities to develop and build quality products that they now build models for the US market.'

If you won't really be happy without the disc brake and long case, go that way.

If you won't really be happy without the disc brake and long case, go that way. Fox has the engine i truly want for this build. Its a true longcase motor with disk brake. Shakerdriver has the wheel. This motor would move the rear tire back and with the fender delete and 130/70-12 tire it would look awesome, hopefully giving it a bit of a drag bike extended swingarm affect. Disc brake would add much to the looks and functionality. The wheel and motor though im lookin at $295. The qmb-a motor is now on CL and i may ebay it also. I hope this longcase motor is still available when i get the qmb-a sold. This QMB-A motor was just too good of a deal to pass up. At $100 the least that will happen is I will make some money off it.

this is sort of the look im shooting for but not orange. scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=custommodifiedscooters&action=print&thread=28588switching those forks to where the rotor is on the right would lower and stretch the front nice and if you went even further down the wheel fits nice inside that front cowling, much like Jeremys drag bike. Actually his is where i got the main idea for the look i want. Switching those forks present a problem though, the speedo will go backwards lol, so a digital one would be needed. The exteneded motor mount gives it a nice stretched look but i wanted to achieve this with mostly a true longcase motor and perhaps an inch or so of an extended mount. here you can tell its all in the mount whereas if you use a long motor, an inch more on the mount will make the long motor even longer, making it look like an extended drag bike Like it was originally designed that way but still streetable.

I agree, and i want to ditch the stock headlight and install some sort of digital dash and headlight. I have no clue how to proceed with all that yet however. I am faced with investing in a $700 carport to get my work area out of the rain first. boy do i miss my shop. actually if i cover the entire 20'x20' concrete area available, its going to be much higher, but if i dont i might be sorry. the entire area covered sure would be nice. I want a lift someday too. bending, squating and kneeing is hurtin this high mileage body lol
