So I’m at the beach for a few days. Ocean City Maryland. The beach trash truck is a new one for me. I’ve never seen it before. I kinda want to drive it around. The others, the beach tractors, I’ve seen those for years. I think they’re awesome. I’ve always wanted to apply for that job. I have tractor experience…… I may not be able to link two videos. I’ll see after I post.

Tuesday morning. Damn AC is a noisy Bitch. This building is old. The AC is a water based system on the roof and each room has noisy water fall sounding unit in it. Oh well. This is the closest I’ve stayed to the sand as an adult. I’ve stayed as far as a half hour away before. I highly doubt this building will be here in a few years.

The Safari hotel should be basically next door to you. My parents stay in OC once a year and have stayed there multiple times. They say it's an older building, which is reflected in decor of common areas, but everything is clean, everything works, the price is low, and it's right on the boardwalk. This beach talk is making me want Thrasher's fries.

Safari building is where we picked up our keys. There is a deceased building between our place and the safari building. Maintenance has ceased on the middle building and the doors are padlocked. I’m sure this building isn’t far behind. Roof drain is plugged and it ran through a crack in the ceiling outside for 12 (!) hours after it stopped raining. Last night we had Italian food on the boardwalk around 9th street next to the kite loft. It was damn good but I burned my mouth badly on my first bite of lasagna. Oh well. Happens too often I’m afraid.

Looks like you got sidetracked there for a second.

There’s so much eye candy here and most of them are younger than my oldest kid. I cannot look with a clear conscience. There was a bike coming up the boardwalk I was dodging at the end.

You could stand out there at night with a bucket of golf balls and see if you can hit the tractors and trash trucks like at a driving range. What do the tractors do when they hit a dead body hidden in the sand?
I have never been to the beach on the east coast, just the left coast and the gulf.
It is horrible when the eye candy is younger than your kids. Just wear your dark sunglasses. Or you can stay inside with binoculars.
How long before the building collapses like Floriduh or the Hyatt in KC?

My mom warned me about the building before I left. She’s a media sponge. The popo are pretty vigilant here so the golf ball challenge would end pretty quickly unless I was on a rooftop out of sight. If they find a dead body I think they’d swerve around and pass it onto the appropriate agency. Too much paperwork. Not in the job description. I’ve never been to the beach anywhere other than Delaware or Maryland. It’s what I know and it works for me. Four hour drive from home.
My parents would make nightmare trips in the mid-late 70’s. Dad would drive, no reservations, expect to walk into a hotel and get ocean view, get pissed off and storm out. This would repeat for several hours until we would settle for bay view and start vacation.

I watched the sun come up, rented a bike and put my SO on the back seat for her first ever tandem bike ride. She did great. We didn’t even hit anybody. Did some shopping, got a coffee, back to the room at 11:30 and both kids are still passed out. Am I the only one who thinks a vacation day is totally wasted if you don’t get the hell outta bed at a decent hour? Like 8am at the latest?

Nope, not just you.
Picked the kids up in STL from their Grandparents, and took them to Ohio to visit my sister and her family.
Every day I was trying to roust them up before 10am. But their cousins are the same way - all teenagers. I’m sure I did the same.

Am I the only one who thinks a vacation day is totally wasted if you don’t get the hell outta bed at a decent hour? Like 8am at the latest? Depends when you get to bed I guess. I have no idea what it's like since COVID, but I was pretty entertained just riding the scoot around at 1-2AM when the clubs and bars were closing. 20-somethings stumbling all over the place. Watched someone get sick in a trash can. Cops doing sobriety tests. Maybe a fight. I always thought it was funny that people against the car shows talked about how they aren't good for family friendly OC's reputation. Those people have never been out and about at 2AM on ANY summer weekend (again, at least before COVID). When I was a teenager, I'd get up a 5-6AM... unless it was a school day and then I never wanted to get up. I was like that till I hit the deer. Now I'd be totally cool with sleeping till 10AM if I could. Hell, I'm ready for a nap now. lol
