I must be doing something wrong.

Used the wrong Degree wheel.
With the 49ccScoot Degree wheel I have
190 Exhaust 132 Transfer
From what I understand that will put me in the 10k category. Little higher than I like with my ZX exhaust but unless anyone here tells me otherwise I'm buttoning it up and moving on to the next phase of the build.

Yeah, that's gonna be happy with a peak around 10,000RPM most likely. I see you have 2mm written on the port map. Is that a spacer? If so, shave that down a hair and you will drop the timing.

If you triple checked those numbers,I'd do it again with no base gasket and see what you get.Dont know what kind of jug you have there, but those durations are getting into the road race area.As Robert said, get the durations right, then set up the squish..We ran low pipes in the 70's on MX courses and would dent heck out of them, any ideas on this??

That 2mm was something I should have erased it was nothing to do with this. No spacer or anything just a single base gasket.

Yep triple checked everything, and its some kit autotech sells. I got this motor off of a race friend of mine that had some family issues and had to sell it off. No name brand on the box or the cylinder. Not sure what to do about the exhaust hanging down, maybe a skid plate of some sorts? For the record this is mostly for show/pitbike use

If those numbers drop a couple of degrees you can seal the cylinder with the same stuff you seal the cases with.

182 124
Correction after triple checking I would say it's actually much more like 182 exhaust 124 transfer.

A base gasket right between there would probably be about right for my taste but I'd stick with that rather than the durations w/this gasket since you want to keep more low end. The ZX should still work well with that.

Now that looks better! You'll want to run a bigger carb to keep the engine cooler, around 22 to 26mm..

Thinking about just throwing somr knobbies on and rolling the original front end like these guys do for now. Until I find the pitbike I want cheap enough.
