For sure, I have always ran Mina clones. Only recently got into pre-bugs and after looking at the intake design, it's clear the vertical intake is way more efficient. Like a modern day dirtbike. I just wasn't aware there was a long case horizontal. u got it backwards it's the horizontal engines that have the better intake among other things, better mounted points, longer wheel base, more pipe options and water cooling ofcoarse.... the cvts are exact the same though...

Yes from running both vertical, and horizontal Minarelli engines. I think the horizontal has more potential. The way the vertical reeds are mounted only had room for two petals, mounted flat. Where the horizontal has the four petals mounted in a V shape. Like most later performance two strokes.

You are mixing up vertical and horizontal The mina verticals don't come in long or short case, just variated (older jogs, pre-bug/BW's) and non variated (Yamaha mint).

Engine mounting is complete and surprisingly straightforward. I removed the shock riser to give myself the extra clearance around the forward facing carb. So, if you're just looking at this for the first time. Stock Ruckus engine mount and ( stock 10mm ) bolt + Trimmed YW50 engine tube + 1mm wall thickness tubing + 2TR Mina forward facing intake and Stage6 360 intake =

Coming along nicely!
What’s that hose clamp for?

Ahh, good eye. I used the hose clamp to snug the engine mount as upward as possible from the carb setup. If I wanted to do it right, I'd find thicker piece of rubber to replace the 'engine link stopper' ( rubber bushing thing! ).

Wiring loom added! It gets spark and fired up. I have a lot of wiring to clean up. I'm not sure about the gas tank solution. I don't feel like buying a used tank off of eBay to find out that it won't clear the motor. I might use a plastic lawn mower tank and zip tie it under the seat.

Just don’t be this guy - If you can’t tell from this angle, the exhaust “bracket” is rubbing on the tire. And the engine is off-center. And the engine is canted. And the whole thing makes my brain itch.

Would love to see details on harness used. I am hoping to use the ruckus wiring harness for factory fuel pump use and just steal power and ground for ignition and key for kill.

I used the harness from a TNG Venice. The Venice is basically a copy of a Yamaha Vino. I swapped everything from the harness, cables, and controls too.
I wish I had a ruckus gas tank to play with! I _think_ the gy6 guys use a vacuum Mikuni fuel pump so I would research that. I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to use the ruckus harness to run power to the pump and use the kill switch, just make sure to use the appropriate CDI ( if you are swapping a 2t like me ). I don't think the 4t CDI will run a two stroke safely.
