From a previous place on the forum I am putting the build of this shed thing here. Never done a 2 poke being the spawn of the Devil. Brief history I got this with a Bali 100 which is now up and running and put this 50 on eBay as spares as to far gone for any sane person to want to put on road. Well insanity rules ok, engine seized oil pump seized, crank seized. Gave it a look over and thought why not see if I can get it sorted with big bore kit and larger carb if needed. So far this is as far as I got and yes FrankenMech you maybe right about it living in the sea. 😊

Wherever it was there was a lot of mud and salt. That salt does not go away.
What year bug is that?
The first single cylinder engine I rebuilt was a two poke but the cylinder was big enough to poke your closed fist in easily.

Didn't realise I posted pic of the bug. It's a 71 or 72 model with the larger rear lights. So it on the way to work other morning in co op car park where I get my coffee as everywhere else is closed.

I thought it was newer than my 68 but it was years ago, -I have slept since then.... Coffee is a nice warm liquid to drink but alas, I can not have it anymore due to even the residual caffeine in decaff, pure poison for me. Sometimes life is just a giant F-. I found out today they want me to go on insulin shots with meals.

It's going to take some saving. But it will keep you out of trouble for a while. There is a couple of running engines on eBay, but not cheap. I forgot you were looking at another bike today.

Well after breaking the old with a to larger tap with hammer I have another engine ordered which will be cheaper than buying parts for this one. Now with the help of the neighbours daughter it is in the shed for rebuild time. Engine meant to arrive Wednesday at some point.

Now he can get out his largest BFH and his blowtorch. Get rid of any plastic parts.

Today I escaped to the shed to do a short bit of work putting carb on engine and removing front panel before fitting throttle cable while mother and eldest daughter did their headless chicken argument vis text message and both trying to involve me and younger daughter but we not silly and ran away. After starting to get cold quickly I went back in and they have finished so I texted Beth to say all was well. But looks like a trip to Nottingham to get the car back as eldest has thrown a strop and doesn't want it. No loss better for us to have a spare car hanging about for when mine dies. Quite surprised at the mileage of this scooter to.

Don't you just love family squabbles? That's some impressive mileage.

With a new engine etc. that scoot may be worth stripping down completely and being rebuilt. It has stood the 'test of time'. Rust and corrosion may be the biggest faults. To get that many miles it must have been a good design and well maintained at some point during it's life.

That’s a crazy high number of miles. I think I would take it as a personal challenge to keep going to try to have all zeros again… then sell it as new old stock.
