Today, I got my so called Xmas gift. An Retro Husqvarna 40 chainsaw. The Husqvarna 40 is a small 40cc chainsaw that was made between 1978 and 1991. It’s not a professional chainsaw but is designed for light homeowner duties. It shouldn’t be used with anything over an 18″ bar, and that length is also pushing it. It performs best with a 12 – 16″ bar. Currently, it had 13" bar with 13" chain. Im planing to give it to local Husqvarna dealership for maintenance. Maybe I buy the 15" and 16" bar sets too, with chains. Just in case if I need those. Also I brought special Aspen fuel for this 2T engine and some chain oil. Husqvarna 40 Specs: 40cc, 2.4 cu in 2.5 hp, 1.8 kW 10.3 lbs, 4.7 kgs dry weight 12,500 max rpm, 2,500 idle Champion RCJ 7Y spark plug Zama C1Q carb PICS:

Here is the part one of that chainsaw side project. Did not get it running. I need to take it all apart and clean it all. Maybe swap out fuel lines and stuff.

A Christmas miracle happened yesterday, the Husqvarna 40 chainsaw showed signs of life, but it did not start with the choke, I had to use full throttle, while I was pulling the starting string-thingy. When I finally let off the gas, the machine died. So I guess it is necessary to clean the carburetor. In addition, the fuel hoses, fuel filter, air filter also need to be changed, possibly the carburetor membranes as well, because the saw has been standing for a long time.

Yesterday, I got some suff with mail. Parts for diesel heater and few service parts for the retro chainsaw (Husqvarna 40). I swapped spark plug, fuel line with filter, pulse line and 13" chain on the chainsaw. But I forgot, where the pulse line goes and I messed up the carb settings, by screwing around with High/Low and Idle screw. Upsie Maybe I did flood the carb. One time, It did not start too and on next day, It did start up fine. I did downoad, the owners manual for the Husqvarna 40 chainsaw. It told me the basic setting are 1 and 1/4 turns on bothe High/Low speed screws. I quess, the Idle spleed screw is the same.

Well, after I finised my night shift, on 31st of December 2023, there was little bit cold outside and my Aixam´s driver side door handle forze. When I did try to open the door, I broke front end of the handle Used the duckTape, to fix it and drove home. Car did sit few days, and yesterday 2nd of january 2024, when I wanted to go to the post office, I did not get the door lock to open, because it was now frozen too So I took the bus to work, after 1,5 hours trying to open my car door. Brought some stuff, to spray into the lock and I will try it after my night shift end on 3rd of january 2024. The Husqvarna 40, is siting in my garage, waiting for service (carb. adjustment or new carb and intake parts). It will start, after it has been siting some time, but only when I give it some throttle. On idle, it does not want to run and dies.

Today, was warmer and I got the door lock of my Aixam working again, by applying some warm water. I was so happy, to get into my car again. Then I did try to start the car, but battery was dead. So, I did charge it few hours and still car did not start. I also broke the second half of the car door handle, so the door lock works fine, but now I do not get into my car again. Second door does not have a key hole for the lock, to open it and the trunk lid does open from inside the car. So Im F-ed again. Need to buy and swap the door handle and also the battery now. The battery I have on the car is from year 2021, so it is old.

I did find out, what broke on my Aixam City door handle. On the handle, there is a plastic hoop, what houses the metal rod, what is connected to the door opening mechanism. That hoop on the handle broke and rood moved away from the handle. Now I have 2 options - to buy new door handle and try to swap it, or make an MacGyver style solution to the havdle, so I can open the door. Hmmmm....decitions, decitions.

Today I had to broke into my car myself. Got the door open and then I went and brought a new door handle and new battery. I swapped both. But, the new handle was working hard, there is something else wrong, with the mechanism.
