Luckily Paul the old bearing cups had been kept well greased and are smooth and I have some new loose ball bearings of different sizes around somewhere. It's just a case of remembering where which may present a problem. I couldn't find my grandma's old sewing machine today which I have somewhere and that's in a big box. Bottom yoke arriving in the morning so most of the hard work will be done by the time the top yoke arrives and may get it completed in time for the free re test and before heading back up north for mother in law's funeral.

Ball bearings must be replaced as a set of all the matched same size. As in matched to a few millionth of an inch. Otherwise it is just like having 2-3 big bearings and the rest skipping around loose.

I have the same problem with an address number same as my own only over two blocks with a different street number. We routinely exchanged deliveries and had each others telephone numbers. The delivery services eventually caught on after many years and have been doing better. -knock on wood-

An ear syringe won't help old farts like U and me. Too much loud music, loud motors, and loud machinery. Not to mention other damage from meds, firearms, and just plain old age.

Hearing aids are useless for me since I am actually deaf as a post at several frequencies. No amount of amplification will help at 3-4kHz and above 8kHz. The have new frequency shifting hearing aids but I have 'heard' they don't work well.

We are very lucky with the NHS over here as we don't have to pay for them or the batteries or service parts. Well I suppose we do indeed a way paying National insurance out our pay packets our working life. But then not limited to what medical treatment we need. Must be a nightmare Stateside for some. I have never looked into how it works over there only that you pay for your own insurance and I presume the more coverage the more expensive the premiums. Not sure what Obama care is.

Hooray, ear cleared and aid's in and I can hear again. Most likely now pick up on all the squeak and rattles the car makes when I start it up and drive off in a sec.

I am old and poor so I qualify for our version of NHS which is Medicare and Medicaid which was paid for by taxes I paid my entire life and now paid by younger workers just like I paid for older workers before I retired. Obama care was insurance that would cover unemployed people and/or not covered by employer health plans with pre-existing conditions that were essentially uninsurable with private health plans for cost reasons or were just uninsurable. I never could afford Obama care even and faced penalties etc. When I aged into Medicare it saved me. Then when I qualified for Medicaid it covered everything, even my Medicare cost. Even now the Medicare/aid insurance refuses to may for certain medications. They will only pay for the cheapest medication which is cheap because it doesn't work... Medicare, Medicaid, and Social security are all basically a Ponzi scheme which really benefited the older workers that initially voted it in. I suppose the NHS was nearly the same with some differences.
I don't know if hearing aids would be covered for me which does not matter since they would be entirely useless anyway. It does not stop the adverts in the mail though. I don't watch TV which at least stops almost all the adverts blasting me except the ones on Chrome or streaming services. I absolutely HATE Google Chrome and all the knock offs even the newer Firefox. I was in a store last week and was very annoyed at the constant political ads over the muzak system. I should have been wearing my shooting ear protection over a pair of ear plugs. -I will next time until after November. Even the car radio is worthless this time of year. Visual adverts are much, much, much worse that audible ones.

Appears fairly well covered similar to the NHS, unfortunately the care system is chronically understaffed as it appears to many chiefs and not enough Indians syndrome in the NHS. But at least we are lucky unlike some countries with next to nothing. Today I have learnt something re the medical care in the States to what I assumed FrankenMech.

Fuggin, fuggin, fuggin nightmare. Son comes over with scooter ready to pick up his motorbike. Tells me scooter headlight bulb blew and rode 16 miles home from work in the dark. New bulb problem sorted. He happy to be having Japanese motorcycle after problematic Chinese stuff. Before he arrived I checked it over took it for a quick spin. All fine and dandy. Owen comes in the house change's his insurance over, taxes it then off he goes. Nope fuggin fuggin fuggin thing has no spark can't see anything obvious. So now dad is picking him up from work at 22.00 and the bloody same till it works. I best not work on it today in case big hammer turns it to scrap 🤬
