Go ahead and get it. I own 2 Yamahas myself. And not that you need me to say so but if you have to get a maxi, you should go ahead and join the Yamaha club. Yamaha is a great manufacturer and they do what I call "dummy proof" their bikes. This is why I especially do not like Honda, you have to do everything their way, and they couldn't give a crap about how difficult it is for people to have to service their vehicles. I have worked on Honda cars and bikes and the HMMS (Honda Micro Managing System) hold true across the board. +1 T-Max. Do it!

I keep looking for any reasons not to buy the Tmax but just can't find any.
Another post from another forum:
New here, looking for forums about the Yamaha Tmax, found this forum. I have owned a 09 Yamaha Tmax for 2 years now and I still LOVE it. My first choice was the Suzuki Burgman 650 but the Suzuki Dealers held what they had on stock hostage asking a MSRP higher price, so I was forced to buy the Tmax and i'm glad I did. The perfect balance and handling is the thing that stands out about the Tmax, I can take my Tmax around tight, hairpin curves at full speed with extreme confidence and I find myself when stopped balancing it upright without my feet touching the ground. With an extra Shad Topcase on back I can take it to the food store and haul 7 grocery bags, With a front Givi Windscreen I can ride down the road at 70 mph and hear the birds singing in the trees. Everybody asks me what kind of gas mileage I get thinking the only reason I bought it is to save money on gas, they get a surprize look when I tell them I get between 44 and 49 mpg, saying their full size cruiser bike gets that! I tell people its a scooter with a mini crotch rocket engine. I also use it as a long distance touring bike. All the other motorcycle owners laugh and make fun of it and the more they do that the more I love it, they buy a motorcycle to impress other people, I buy a motorcycle to impress me!

I know the Max doesn't have the best mpg of the maxi's but....
It has two wheels and a engine... :riding:
And that's all that matters.

On my xj600, yamaha numbered the cam journal cups and list I or E, and the cams hams have I or E on them so that you can put them back over the correct set of valves. Each coil has a specific length so that you can't mess up the plug wire order. 4 very accessible bolts hold the cover over the very accessible crank timing wheel. Each cam has a TDC timing mark. I could go on and on about Yamaha. with a flathead, phillips and a basic metric socket set you can do 80% of the work on yamahas.
Honda... Prepare to buy tools you didn't know existed!!!

Good info Reg, i didnt know that. Thanks! Bet that one was expensive?.
I like how they say Japan assembled the engine after we made the blocks in Windsor. Well whos idea was it to attach the cam gears like that? It says Ford, but yet Yamaha built it.... Hhhmmm?
Sorry, wondering off topic again.

Maybe it was one of the reasons ford had to drop their old slogan, "Ford Has A Better Idea". Dig this 1968 oldie commercial.
Why can't I embed Youtube videos anymore? Have I gone stupid or what?

Not sure what you were doing when you tried to embed it, but I did it for you. Worked OK for me.
Great commercial. ;D I especially enjoyed the "bold, racy, hood stripes".

I dunno about the code from youtube directly, but if it was it would not be img tags but youtube tags. I just highlight the address of the vid in the address bar, copy, use the youtube button on the reply page, then paste the vid link in the middle.

the yam weighs about the same as my st2 ducati [sport touring], gets the same mpg and only has 1/2 the hp. sounds on the boring side and i am 67. if i want boring i have a car, but that's just my opinion. i have a vento 2t i use as a grocery getter, very easy to roll around. then i am just finishing up my winter project a 1974 bultaco alpina 250 set up for street use, that weighs about the same as the vento.
