What do you guys think of this scooter? I want one REALLY REALLY bad. Even thinking of selling the F-ACT to get one. Found some good deals online for a 09 for $5400-6500 brand new! I have to get a Tmax!!! I know they are super popular in Europe. I'm saving every dollar I get to be able to own one of these sexy beasts. 499cc's of pure Ecstasy. I still love my two stroke but I want to be able to go on long trips too. Out of all the stuff I have read about the Tmax, no one has anything bad to say about it. Hopefully in 3-4 months time I will be able to get one.

There are plenty things that I do not like about Maxi Scoots.
1. Poor fuel economy, you can expect 40mpg tops on a t-max. 2. Low power to weight ratio, they feel very underpowered. 500cc making 40HP. With all the tech in it, it should make 10HP more. 3. They cost as much as motorcycles. And unlike most motorcycles, you've got an hour of fairing removal first before you can do anything besides an oil change or carb adjustment (obviously tmax is efi but you get the point). If you want a maxi scooter because you are a scooter fan and can't see yourself on a motorcycle, then yes get one. If you want a tmax because you want something faster, get a motorcycle like I did. Past 300cc i don't think scooters are worth it. Period

I just love scoots, and want something to travel on 500-600 mile trips with. I can't find any negative remarks about the Tmax. Very low maintenance. 100+ mph. 50+ mpg. I travel out of state a lot for work. Looks like a scoot but handles like a sport bike. It is a little on the pricey side but its a Yami. Very high quality. And you usually get what you pay for. Just want to enjoy the ride. Plus it has storage room. Motorcycles don't. My little 2t is awesome for around town, but not road trips. I have fallen in love with scoots ever since I bought mine 2 years ago and just want to KEEP ON SCOOTIN. I just think its more practical for what I want to do with it. Also way cheaper than a 1000cc cruiser.
I was looking at another forum and many people had owned multiple motorcycles before getting their Tmax's and they all said that they were not disappointed with their choice. All preferred it to the similar 650/400 Burgs and Silverwings and the Kymco Xiting 500.
Plus I don't mind taking stuff apart. And you don't have to be a mechanical genius to to basic maintenance (change oil, fluids, tires, belts, etc.)

People are saying they have 25,000+ miles with no probs what so ever. Just regular maintenance. You kind of sound like a SCOOTER HATER, not a scooter doctor.

Another selling his bike for a Tmax
well i've made the decision to pull the trigger on a T-Max over the next few months- hopefully i can swing a great deal considering the economy + the winter. i already have a buyer for my C3 (gonna miss it tho!) for $1,500. my GF seems willing to ride on the back of a Max- the XRR and a Speed Triple left her cold! (still want an S3 at some point). i need something fun and practical and the Max easily wins

MORE
cool- thanks rcoller and dynamos!!
yeah, i'm excited to get this thing! after going down the list of what i need/want out of my next motorcycle, it turns out the Max beats them like a drum; practicality, comfort, fuel effecient, passenger capable, fun, cool etc... when you look at the price, it seems high for a scoot, but when you look at what it does and compare it to a MC of the same price it's tough to beat the T-Max
i'll have the XR650R for when i want to ride aggressively, stunting, and off roading...the T-Max is a there to get me places in style and comfort while being a lot of fun
i've read post from members claiming 4 secs 0-60 with variator and other mods- if that's even close to true, then it will give my dirtbike a run for it's money....and that thing hauls the mail either way, not a big deal- i'm not buying the Max for sheer speed. thanks all

Past 300cc i don't think scooters are worth it. Period The Yamaha T-Max is one cool scooter with god awful good looks. However.... I rather agree with motorhead. IMO 55 mpg is the bottom figure acceptable for a decent road scooter. Having said that , I feel a 75 mph cruising speed is also desirable with at least 10 mph overhead left. That's why the Kymco Downtown 300i is currently my favorite super scooter. Tops out at around 92mph. It's quick in town and the mpg is around 60 mpg. I think a true 300cc is the optimum compromise given all the factors for a super scooter. Has anyone ever seen one of these in a U.S. dealership? Although it's doubtful I'll ever be able to afford one here's some info: www.visordown.com/road-tests-first-rides/first-ride-kymco-downtown-300i-review/17413-2.htmlwww.twistngo.com/news/kymco-downtown-300i-maxi-scooter-testwww.kymcousa.com/showroom/scooters/downtown300i/index.html

I just think the Tmax is a perfect mix between a bike :wheelie: and a scooter :scoot2: .
Top speed of 110+mph. Would be nice to have the power if needed to get around all the cages on the intersate. Plus 52 mpg ain't to shabby either. It sure beats the PT Cruiser @ 28 mpg.

Opinions are like elbows and assh*les... everybody has one... and I respect that. I just think the tmax is more suited to my needs than the downtown would be. I don't think you could put 25,000 miles on the Kymco without having any problems with it. I know Yamaha's are very reliable and long lasting. A few mpg loss isn't going to break the bank either. The Tmax probably gets a little less mpg than my 2t but you have to comprimise somewhere. I need a scoot that can travle long distances at 55-85mph and also be reliable too. And I really am not a fan of the Burgman's and the like. I'm not 60 yet. As far as a maxi scoot goes it's the cream of the crop. (the tmax that is)
