I was out tonight riding Project 90, trying out another pipe. While cutting through the back of a parking lot, I saw something go by on a nearby street with blue LED strip lights on the sides. It was kinda hard to make out, but it appeared to be a scooter to me. I don't see that many other scooters when I'm riding around, so I had to investigate.
I sped out of the parking lot to the road he was on. By the time I got to the exit to the road I could see him swerving back and forth approaching a red light. I gassed it and as I got close his light turned green. He made a left turn, putting his left leg out and making some sparks from the center stand, swerved around a little more, and then stopped at a red light. Luckily for me, this just happened to be a dual lane red light.
He's riding a black and blue "sunny" style GY6 scooter. Seemed to go pretty well from what I could see before I caught up, maybe a 60-70cc? Blue LED lights down both sides. He's probably somewhere around 150lbs, so basically half my weight.
There's an outdoor bar with people about 6ft from where he is in the right lane. As I'm pulling up beside him in the left lane, he's looking at the people in the bar and trying to show off. He's bouncing the scooter and revving it and pulling the front wheel up a little. I hated to interrupt, but I revved my 96cc at him. I think this was the first time he noticed I was there, too busy making sure he had everyone's attention. He looks over at me and gives me what I assume was supposed to be a badass stare as he lifts the front of the scooter way in the air by stepping off of it. Not exactly a feat of great power, any stock scooter can do a wheelie that way. I tried not to laugh as I revved the engine again. So then he sets the scooter down and with a rev or two starts watching the light, as I did as well. The people in the bar are now watching both of us, probably amused that two scooters are trying to race each other.
Finally, the light turns green. We both pinned our throttles. As soon as the light turned green, he disappeared behind me. It really wasn't even a race. It was bad... well, bad for him. I found it quite amusing that he was showing off for the people at the bar and a fat guy just smoked him. I tried slowing down so he could catch up. From the way he was riding before the red light, I thought he might wanna do a little more spirited riding. Nope. He got the hell outta there on the first turn.
So much for showing off.

. When i had my Yamaha JogRR that was really fast and only weighed 70kg. Used to love it at the lights when a car would pull up next to you, to try and overtake you. When the lights turned green it took off so fast they had to get in behind you or run up the road next to me with a "what the f*** look on their face lol.
