How’s the new computer working out? Ironically enough, it has to sit and wait till I get a couple of editing projects done. I've got files scattered across drives and I don't want to risk losing the work so far. Re-using drives and GPU to save $, aside from an M.2 PCIe Gen 4 that shows about 10x my current sys drive's speed in user benchmarks. Meanwhile, I'm seeing more lag than I ever have when editing. Figures. Maybe early next week I'll actually be able to get it going. Can't wait to kiss lag goodbye and chop the current 10-20 hour processing times for production way down. I've got the mobo in, CPU/cooler installed and some wires ran. When the editing lag gets to me I go out and mess with the new one for a few. The cooler is gigantic. I'll post pics somewhere when I get it ready.

Makes sense now. You’ve still been talking about lag, so I was wondering how that was possible with your sweet new setup.
20 hours of editing sounds like a nightmare zone. You’ll enjoy your videos more than any of us once you’re up and running.

When I do the voice-over stuff, those take a really really long time for me. These live speech vids are much better for time involved. In videos where there are graphics, I take forever. The compression vid I did earlier this year was over a month of effort for me to make with multiple crappy animations and a bunch of graphics for a 35 minute video. 10-20 hours is how long it takes to render once I'm all done and just have to wait on the PC to spit out a video file. Basically the new PC will cut back on the time that I can't touch my PC to do anything else and reduce frustration while editing.

That compression video really is awesome. The Library Of Congress and every automotive tech class should be cataloging this stuff for reference lol.

I got the engine fired up today. Sounds like a different machine. I remember quick revs with the small flywheels, but the inner rotor seems to go beyond that. Just revving with no CVT, the slightest touch of throttle wants to send RPM soaring. I had a shifter bracket for a car around that just by dumb luck fit really well to let me mount my Trail Tech TTO tach beside the timing indicator. I figured that may let me be more accurate with timing readings. Instead of reading as usual, I can get a camera setup on both and use that for timing specs. No POV shifting or struggling to hold the throttle and look at the mark that way. The tuning tach was inconsistent using wire wraps, so I stripped the end and connected it to coil positive directly. I had to set both of my tachs to 2 pulses per revolution as opposed the the standard 1 PPR for a 2Ts and wasted spark 4Ts. That got the RPM readings in check and looking normal to me. Then I ran into a larger hurdle. My timing light won't do anything. I have moved it around and changed orientations, cut the protective covering off of the plug wire, tried putting it around the coil positive wire (never done that before but read online that sometimes it will work), moving the ground, and I can't get even get it to flash once. My timing light has been used for years and I'm sure I've dropped the pickup clamp multiple times. It has had issues for years with scooters, being hit or miss. I don't know if it's my light or something else. I was thinking about getting what seems to be the best rated light (not Snap-On or ultra-high-end), the Innova 5568. amzn.to/2E3KMV0That may be the wrong path for this particular situation though. Not sure. No timing light that I see is meant for 2 PPR, so I think advance would be wrong if trying to dial it in on the timing gun. Simple math could convert that, but it wouldn't just work. Plus there's the circuitry issue that I know pitobread mentioned in one of his vids. I know the Innova says it goes to 9,900RPM. In reality, I doubt I'll measure much past there anyway. It gets kinda tough sometimes trying to get the throttle right and not kill the engine holding it etc... for timing checks at high revs. Not sure if I'd be better off getting something with no advance setting features. I don't even know if the old style non-inductive lights are even a thing anymore. I guess the only good news is that if I can get something soon it's probably not a big holdup since it's raining today and supposed to snow tomorrow anyway. Hopefully they don't salt the roads for what is supposed to be a non-event.

I have a pretty fancy innova and it sucks, it doesnt have a 2t specific mode though. Its damn near impossible to get a consistent reading and the tech is all over the place. The best one I have is this aliexpress 20 dollar mega cheapo no fancy stuff one. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/DxPZPj48

Damn. Well, I ordered the Innova and I ordered a used Craftsman from the 60s that has the spring or tube to go between the plug and cap for $20 shipped. Maybe one of them will work.
Maybe this is why they don't give us specs in degrees.

I’m just using an eBay cheapie and it serves it’s purpose. Actually it works pretty well.

I have the step down from that one and it does not like any scooter I have put it on to date. Cheapie works fine.

I did a few checks today for future reference. They'll be in a video eventually, but I wanted to get them up here so maybe they'll come up if anyone needs them and searches. Figured it would be nice to have some out of the box specs in case any troubleshooting needs to be done at some point.
ACV Output (Done with stator disconnected from harness, cranking engine over)
Red/Black : ~50V White : ~5V Yellow : ~5V
Exciter power (red/black) is right on par with what I expect from most ignitions. The charging and lighting (white and yellow) are pretty weak outputs. Similar to what I saw with a HOCA lightweight flywheel that left a bit to be desired for charging.
