Sorry to hear your having so many problems getting that carb to work Ben. If I'd known what it was gonna turn out to be I'd never have traded for it to begin with, Sorry man.

It's alright, man. Now I know why the guy before you wanted to get rid of it :help:
I've got the gasket submerged in alcohol right now, hoping that it'll soften the rubber up and that it'll fluff back up a bit. If nothing else, seeing the bowl itself is plastic, would I be able to sand down the top edge so that the gasket sticks out of the groove it sits in? It's a terrible plastic casting job to begin with, so it would help get rid of the burrs and stuff.

By the way, about that air filter relocation. You had it pretty easy, seeing you don't have any plastics on your scooter. On mine, the plastic comes in at a V shape right where your hose is coming off the carb in that last picture. If I tried that, the hose would have to make a VERY quick turn to the side, cutting off airflow.

What other plastics are there? I had every panel other than a mudguard and fender. T1 is like that now still... well, it was before I pulled it all apart.
Never took any good pics showing it I guess, but you can see the vid hanging out in the vid. Seems to let enough airflow in to make at least a little power (the lag had nothing to do with the filter, that was tuning and the pipe). T2 went 60MPH or so with it before I ripped panels off of it.

Yea, I honestly have no clue how you fit that thing in there with the plastics on. I should probably go throw the carb on and take a picture for you to show the clearance I have.

It could just be your carb/intake setup. I've only used this with an Arreche 19mm/stock intake, Dell 24mm/Polini intake, and Dell 25mm/Polini intake.

I just went and checked the clearances again. I may be able to make it work actually. There's about 3 inches between the air intake on the carb, and the frame/plastic I don't know about the hose setup from your other thread, but maybe the J-trap idea might work.

Will it cause any issues if I sand down the top of the float bowl? I've been trying to find a place that sells gaskets for the PHVB and the cheapest place I found is in Germany, and they want $30 shipping.

Plenty of room for a short form filter. The Ram-Air one's are just over 2" long. You could try silicone hose, you can get U shapes in pretty large diameters. Like this: cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silicone-Hose-Blue-57-mm-180-Degree-U-Shape-3-Ply-/300531653601

This setup fit and worked on mine using the OEM airbox tube (bored). I think my CPI has even less room than your Tritons?

I cut out a custom gasket for the carb, had a devil of a time getting it to seat in the slot it's supposed to. I went and put it together, and filled the bowl up about halfway with alcohol, just for testing. Turned the carb on its sides over the sink, and it's still leaking from the top of the bowl. I'm not sure what other options I have at this point. I can either spend insane amounts of money just for a little gasket or just say "screw it" and throw this carb into my pile of "things that didnt work". What do you guys honestly think I should do? I paid less to ship the engine I traded for this carb, than I would for them to ship a gasket from Germany. Oh, and I'm thinking of taking this approach for the air filter:

Do you have extra panels still, just in case you don't like the way it turns out?
Just wondering because your Triton is so clean, hate to see you cut up those panels only to regret it.

Yea, I have some extra panels. At least 2 or 3 of each for that area. I'd end up cutting up the panels, seeing the ones I have on right now are painted/the best looking of the bunch
