well im new to the scooter game...i ride motorcycles (02 vfr800 at the moment)...a buddy of mine picked up a 03 zuma 50 about a year ago and let me use it once when i was working on another bike...that one ride had me hooked...i was on craigslist later that night looking for a scoot...im not sure what about a scoot is so much fun...it just is....a few months later i for a woman selling this vento triton for $425 with less then 500 miles on it....she had pulled the tumblers out of the gas cap and parked it...i went and picked it up...i had to pull the carb and give it a good cleaning and drilled out the gas cap to get it off...flushed the tank out and put fresh fuel in it and it fired right up...i road it around for awhile bone stock and it had more power and higher top speed then my buddys zuma...that got my wheels turning, why is it faster....i started doing some research on it and found a sight called scrappy dog scooters and it had and engine number decoder and i found out it is a 100cc jog based engine...score....this is when i knew i had to mod it out and make it go fast....lol....i started with a leo vince zx-r pipe and matching roller weights and clutch springs....i pulled the cvt cover off to put the weights and springs in and found the belt half toast..i ordered a Kevlar belt and got it all back in order....fired her up and took it for a spin and was very happy with the pipe...it had loads more pickup and gained about 8mph....next i ported the intake manifold and put cf reads in it...thats all i have done performance wise...i cleaned it up by removing the rear fender and relocating the turn signals...i also blacked out all 4 turn signals and relocated the license plate with a custom bracket.....it looks really smooth and clean....i have been riding it all summer and now i have that itch to make it faster.....i dont know much about cvt setups but i do know thats the next step along with a carb...i would love if i could get some input on what works best and where i can get the parts...i have found that its hard to find parts for a vento...i know its based off a jog but in not sure what jog parts i can use on it....i would love to go to an overrange kit but not sure if any fit the vento...any input would be great...thanks Attachments:

I really like the scoot. I'm a big fan of Tritons, and I've never seen one in those colors. Looks great. I'd go with a 21mm DellOrto PHBG carburetor. Fits the stock intake and airbox (with screw-on adapter) and jets and parts are pretty easy to find. There's also a clone of that carb sold that might save you a few bucks. I think it uses all the same parts, but 2strokd might have more info on that for you. When you go to a larger carb, remove the snorkel from the airbox to let a little more air flow without a lot of extra noise. Prob not gonna get a big power gain, but the carb will keep the engine running a lot cooler. The Hoca variator from Parts For Scooters is a good choice for about $50. Works well, but you'll need larger 16x13 rollers or sliders for it and it may need a spacer on the drive boss to work well off the line. You can get an OR kit, but it's expensive and you have to get rid of electric start. This link should cover the details... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=transtech&action=display&thread=3442Lots of stuff tried out and info on different mods here in my Project 90 thread... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=yamajog&action=display&thread=1712&page=1Some fitment info below. The 90cc+ minarellis are pretty much all large splines for the variator and 12mm wrist pin and large flywheel taper. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=yamajog&action=display&thread=2422

thanks...i really love the colors...i was told by many to not get the triton and get a zuma but i just could not pass up the deal...im really glad i got it because i am very happy with it and i get a big smile when im passing my buddys on there zumas....lol...back to so tech questions...i dont want to lose my e-start so the OR kit is out of the pic...a friend told me to look at the polini 9 roller variator.....any info on them, are they worth the extra cash? i looked up the hoca variator and i will most likely go with that but should i get the hoca drice face to? i have been on this site alot in the past few days and really learned alot about scooters but i still have alot more to learn...i have a question for everyone, WHY ARE SCOOTERS SO FUN????hahaha....thats the question me and my friends ask every time we talk the scoots out...well happy scooting and thanks for all the info...

IMO the drive face is OK, but I could take it or leave it. I prefer modding the stock drive face so it works how I need it... but that's WAY more time consuming and not for everyone. I've heard mixed reviews on the Polini. No personal experience. More stuff you may find useful about vari and face below. These links are dealing with a 49cc, which is more picky from the lack of torque, but still hopefully helps to show a bit about tuning. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=builds&action=display&thread=4240&page=16

I've heard of people adding gel inserts or an extra layer of foam and recover or reuse the stock cover in some cases. Wal-Mart used to sell a gel seat pad for ATVs that was about right to place over the seat of a scoot, but last time I looked on their side I didn't see it.
