I picked up a slightly used battery impact at the pawn shop yesterday, and after using it today I wonder how I have ever lived without it. It is an 18 volt RIGID and only cost me $60.00. If you ever use one, you will never go back to the old way. It warmed up here today so I took some rides, and made some changes. As I said previously my current setup was letting the revs get up alarmingly high IMO. 4.5G sliders and a 1500 contra spring had me up around 1100 just over 3/4 throttle, I feel like I could have hit 12000+ no problem. Top speed was only around 44mph, and once it got off the line, it pulled like mad. Brent suggested I put heavier weights in, or a lighter contra spring. I had another clutch already set up with a 1000 contra spring, so I put it on, and it made a huge difference! The RPM's stabilized to around 10100 3/4 throttle, and 10800 WOT. Top speed is now 48.32 mph, and it still pulls pretty good. I am having a problem getting the jetting right. The carb has an 85 main, the needle is 1 notch higher than the middle position, and I have a stock air box on it. Idle is good. and I think I am pretty good from 1/2 throttle all the way up to full, but just after the scoot starts rolling good, it sputters and seems RICH for a second, then it clears up and starts pulling real hard. If I move the needle back to the middle position I am afraid it might seize again. The needle in my spare carb is longer than the one I am using, I wonder if it may help?

What carb are you using. I had a similar stumble at part throttle and fixed it with a different slide cutaway. Now that you got more of an engine load on it's showing up.

That longer needle will only make it leaner.
WoW! I cant believe you are seeing those RPM with a LeoGP exhaust! What port durations again? Ide suggest a bigger carb. Its hard to get the lil Mikuni,s tuned with some 47mm bore set-ups. But i could send you a thinner needle for the stock carb. What number is that one? Im sure ive got one thinner?.. You could go with a thinner/richer needle and maybe one size smaller pilot and cover it all if you have to use that carb?.

That is a different type of Slide. Than what I'm used to tuning. Dellorto uses a round type, the Angle of the cutaway, effects the low & intermediate mixture. I do not know if the flat slide types are affected the same way. Might be the reason for the change to that design.

I use a 20v Dewalt, impact daily. Don't miss the air hose one bit.

I didnt get the LV-GP....I ended up with a TECHNIGAS NEXT-R I picked it up from feebay for $125.00 shipped. My port durations are: Exhaust: 180 Transfer: 130 Boost: 123 The needle is marked 3001 I think. If I buy a carb. which one do you recommend? And where did you pick up that S6 MKII kit from? I think I gotta get one of those! I feel like I got this stock MIKUNI real close, except for the rich spot? around 1/4 throttle. Mabye I should make a video so yall can hear what it is doing.

The owner bought the S6 kit from Scooter Attack. I think the Dello,s are the easiest to tune and maintain a tune with.

Tonight I put the front plastics on so I would have a headlight, and then I went for a ride.
All was well until on the way home, at WOT if felt like the belt slipped bad. I quickly backed off, and everything seemed to be ok. I was near the house with no stops till I pulled up to my shed. Right before I stopped I heard something in the CVT sound a little off. I pulled the cover and found the belt had flipped over, and was riding upside down!
What the hell could have caused that? The bando belt (788 17 28) still looks like new.

Never come across this before! You were luck the belt did not snap.

Never come across this before! You were luck the belt did not snap. Yeah, leave it to me to have a weird problem. I still don't know what could have caused it? I put a stock variator on for a test, and it definitely is not as good as the Hoca. RPM's are all over the place, and it now makes a strange sound when I back off of the throttle. Trying to tune in this weather is counter productive, especially when I don't really know what I am doing. Frustration has set in.

I think Brent had some belt flipping problems on one of his hotrod scoots, dont know if he ever resolved it though..

Check your rear pulley, maybe its binding up and causing the belt to get all sideways..? That could explain some of the funny shifting with the stock vari as well? Ive never had this happen either...

I never had a belt flip and not break I don't think, so I just figured it flipped after broken in my case. Robert's idea about the rear pulley makes sense. Only other thing I can think of is if it were to come off the front pulley enough to get turned over. That seems unlikely unless you ran a belt longer than needed, and when mine was pushing belts way out and busting them I had modded the front pulley to close really tight.
