Believe it or not, I am still not feeling 100%. But I forced myself to go over to the warehouse to work on the 70cc for a while this evening. I have decided the Turbo Kit pipe is just not what I want for this build. The pipe hits hard when it finally hits, but getting to the point where the pipe hits takes way too long, and I have spent too much time trying to make it work. I decided to try the MHR pipe on this build even though it has fitment issues. I tried several different spacers, and bracket positions, and finally got it mounted up. I forgot to take pictures, but I will post some later. The pipe sticks out from the scoot just a bit, and there is only about 1/2" between the pipe and the tire. Overall it ended up fitting much better than I thought it would. A couple short test runs shows very good potential, It is just going to take some time to get everything tuned up. The carb is nowhere near in tune, and I would like to switch back to a stock airbox as this open filter is annoyingly loud after a while. I also have the Malossi OR kit and it is my first time to set one up on a 70cc. I think warmer weather is finally here, at least after tonight. We may see freezing temps overnight, but after tonight I THINK we are done with the cold weather.

Glad to hear your starting to feel better. I've been in bed since Tuesday with this ninja killing virus and it sucks. I'm starting to come out of it myself. Good luck!

Yeah I worked 4 days before going down for 5. I've worked for them in the past and they know me otherwise I'd be real concerned. Would of been nice if this could have waited until health insurance kicked in. I honestly don't remember feeling so bad for so long.

I made some progress tuning this scoot today. At first I was experiencing some strange things I have not seen before. It was idling up and down a bit, and during acceleration it would hit the pipe hard, then fall right back off, then hit again and fall back off. It did that several times until it got up to about 35-40 then it was fine after that. I decided it was time to replace the seal on the variator side of the motor. When I originally installed the seal I drove it in way to far, and it has always worried me. A small part of the lip on the seal where the spring is was missing, so I got it replaced, and the idle was better, and it seemed to run a little better but it was still bouncing on and off of the pipe. I then started moving the needle, and changing the needle, and the slide. I finally got it acting better, but it still wants to bounce on the pipe a bit. I am pretty sure the pilot jet is a size or three too big, and that is what is causing it to bounce.
I decided it was good enough to go for a ride, and was having fun till I ran out of gas. I made it to within 3/4 of a mile from my house, and pushed it home. I have a fairly bad habit of running out of gas in the scooters, at least that is what my brother and buddy say.
It sounds great especially since I have the stock airbox back on it. Top speed was 57 mph @ 10900 Rpm. I changed the variator weights around a bit trying to get full use of the variator pulley, but there is still about 3mm not yet being used. I currently have the equivalent of 4.7g rollers installed, so I will try to add a little more weight to see if I can get full travel. I am using the white Malossi contra spring in the rear pulley, and it is pretty soft, so I don't think the contra spring is the problem.
I think this setup will eventually get me to the 60mph mark consistently, and still have enough low end to make riding it fun. I meant to check the final gear ratio while I had it apart today, but I forgot. I think this setup would easily handle taller gears than whatever it is I am using.

I was at 11500 rpms to hit 65mph on my spree. I have 11:1 gears. If that helps you at all?

I have been pulling my hair out trying to get a decent carb tune on this latest setup. I finally changed the 19mm dell out for a 21mm and things got better quick, but still not quite right. One day I will have these carbs figured out, but for now it feels like I am peeing into the wind most of the time. I am sure I bring a lot of this trouble on myself. For one, I dont pull the plug to take a look at it very often like I should be doing. So the plug ends up getting pretty fouled by the time I change it. I also jump around a bit changing more than one thing at a time hoping for that lucky strike on a good setup, but that rarely happens. And I STILL dont have a CHT gauge. I gotta get one of those!LoL Current setup 21mm Dell clone, jet sizes listed are accurate. I have been seeing huge differences between sizes stamped on jets, and the jets actual measured size. MJ 102 leans out to a near seize after about 1/2 mile at WOT PJ 42-44 Surprisingly starting and idle have always been easy so far, starts first kick. Progression from idle to 3/4 throttle has been giving me the most problems. Slide 40 Needle W-16 2nd notch from top. Fuel screw 1 1/2 turns out Stock air box no snorkel and one blue vent in the back The pipe is so loud, everyone looks at you! I am starting to wonder if there is any packing in the silencer at all. Here are the pictures I promised of the mounting I rigged up, deff not my best work.

Oldgeek, I recently advanced my timing a bit and pretty much cleared up a sputter I had from o to about 1/2 throttle- which I assumed was from being too rich at the needle... Made an amazing difference! Just an idea for ya..

I don't check plugs a lot unless I just can't tell where I'm at just looking for wet or dry it it's way off. Sometimes a plug chop if I'm close and wanna make sure a tune should be good. Everyone has their own ways, but I worry about nothing but making sure it will idle if I have to stop and so it can warm up... can be rough but I don't want it cutting out. Then I work on the main jet WOT till I think I have that and it's good for at least a couple of miles WOT. Prob a lot tougher if you aren't in the country I guess, and especially if your jet sizes are off. I rarely mess with anything else till I'm getting good results and satisfied with a main jet choice. Then I readjust the idle mix and then I work on the needle position for 1/4-3/4. I usually just ride around and see if it sputters or sounds clean. Richen till it sputters because I want it to be rich on midrange. Save the fine tuning with different needles and stuff till I see if what's in there will work with some riding at part throttle and seeing how it responds to quick throttle. Recheck the idle mix usually when I change the needle.
