I agree that's a bit tight. S6 recommends .6 +/-.1 on the MKII aluminum cylinders. I'd think it'd be higher on an iron kit.

I think when I get time to tweak the carb, and CVT it should top the 60mph mark. I am currently @ about 11:1 final gears, what are my gearing options for this long case clone? Ya gotta remember that I am a big guy almost 300lbs. A lighter person would already easily be over 60mph. The last 130lb guy that rode it before the latest mods dont really want to ride it again! How much belt travel do you have left on the front side? Is there room for a longer belt? About those gearing options i can't help you. I know that there are a million options for the genuine minarellis...the clones i don't know.

I know that there are a million options for the genuine minarellis...the clones i don't know. I have not even started tuning the CVT yet. I know for sure I need some spacers to get the belt higher in the rear pulley, but beyond that I have no idea. I hope to have some time to work on that this week.

Primary Malossi 14/42, S6 15/50. Secondary S6 14/52. I had a taller set of gears in there but the input shaft went bad last year so I traded them out with another set. Can you tell me which ones will get me just a bit better than 11:1? I am clueless about gear ratios.

What are the current tooth counts? I'm only used to ~10:1 & ~13.5:1 gears in stock long cases.

My Eurostrada RX8 was 10.13:1. I've got stock tooth counts if you need them.

When I pulled the CVT apart earlier, I could see the belt was not near full travel on the variator. I was already using the heaviest weights I had, and who knows when my RP order with heavier weights will arrive. I decided to try to make some of the weights I have heavier by cutting some 3/8 copper pipe slightly smaller than the width of the rollers, and then I flattened the copper pipe just a bit to make a tight press fit inside the rollers. I put the much heavier rollers in the variator, and changed the main jet in the carb to a 102. The test ride was short, I could not get it to rev enough to hit the pipe using the heavier weights. The tach said RPM's were around 6500. I may go back over tho the warehouse, and try a mix of the heavy rollers, and some lighter ones.
I got to thinking, and am worried the copper pipe could be thrown out of the rollers by the force of the variator spinning. The copper pipes are in there very snug, but it is still a press fit. I guess I could use some JB weld to fill/add some weight to the rollers, but it takes a day for that stuff to cure.

If you weren't real precise you may want to double check your tire to bell turns again. All we seem to hear about in the long case clones are the 13.5 and 10 gears.
