I gotta throw in that those calculations are for a hollow pipe only,any stuffing,screens,or baffles inside the pipe throws it all out the door!I think the TechniGas has a baffle in it similar to a LV pipe...

Well we can find out if it does. I have a flex video camera that should be able to snake its way through the headpipe so we can see. We have a full day today at work, so scooter time will be limited.

That pipe sings on a Kymco SF style engine with a good 70ish kit and a carb!
Just sayin... Thats the best combo ive seen that pipe on so far. Thing about the Kymco,s though (and John might find this interesting) the header is miles longer to get to the cylinder flange on the "Mid Vert" engine lol. Thats gotta help provide a nice low end punch

Ive gotta TG pipe here for a Morini but no camera to look in it. Gonna sell it soon so i dont want to cut it up and "unperdy" it lol. Nice chrome shiny and all.. Somebodys GOT to have it!

I finally got to ride the 70cc today. I saw 60.96 mph as the max speed on the GPS, RPM's were 10380 just a bit higher than usual. The wind was pretty bad, and seemed to come from all directions if you know what I mean. After a few WOT runs I noticed RPM's start to fall off sharply, so I backed off and let it cool off, and it seems to be ok and back to normal. I guess I am just a tad lean at WOT and it eventually catches up with me. I think I am going to try the Turbokit pipe on this build again, but this time I will make some other changes to see if it will get on the pipe. I think the current sliders are 4.5g I will go to 4g, the clutch springs are stock I will try some 1000 - 1500 springs there, and the contra spring will stay at stock with a BB base for now.

Sounds like a good plan,if you can get the initial revs up quick enough to get 'on the pipe',it ought to scream!

Since I need to split the cases on the 99cc Zip before long, I decided I had better get this 70cc scoot running again. I robbed the pipe and some carb parts from this scoot to use on the 99cc project. So this afternoon I put the carb back together, and decided to fit the Turbo kit pipe on this scooter again. I recently tried it on this scoot but it would not hit the pipe, and ran so bad I took it right back off. This time I tried some lighter weights in the variator as suggested, and after a few weight changes I finally got it to hit the pipe. As predicted by 190mech this pipe screams! Once it struggles through the low end, it gets on the pipe around 10000 rpm and screams to about 12400 rpm. The first time it got on the pipe I nearly peed. I pulled over after I got myself together, and put the choke on so I would hopefully not fry the motor, and took off again. I did not have a tach on it at that point, so I rode it to the warehouse to pull the tach off of the 99cc scooter and installed it on this scoot so I could see what rpm's were. As I was hooking up the krappy tach I checked, and the motor didn't seem to be running hot so I decided to ride a while longer. It decided to soft seize after about 2 miles of WOT. It cooled down quickly and I restarted it and babied it for a bit and tried WOT again briefly and it seemed ok but I took it home anyway. It does not seem to have been hurt. I was kinda surprised that it seized even with the choke on, I guess a much bigger jet is needed. The lightest weights I had for the Hoca variator were 3x4g and 3x4.5g sliders for 25.5g total, and it would not hit with them. The only way I could get any lighter weights was to just use 3 of my heaviest weights which were 3x6.45g rollers that weighed 19.5g total, and it finally hit the pipe using them. I plan to fit the malossi OR on this scooter to see if it will help make it rideable, as the launch is kinda Flinnstoney at present. Some cab tuning and red clutch springs may help the launch, but the OR may be the best solution. I may try the BWS 100 CVT parts first because I shouldn't have to remove the starter ring gear race from the case to try them out. But I want to keep riding the 99cc scoot for now, so I may go straight for the Malossi OR for this scoot. I don't know if I will keep this pipe on it or not. It is pretty loud, and then the pipe hits, and it screams! There was this couple walking dogs on my test loop, and I think I scared the lady as I came by them, she actually looked frightened. Sorry

I had a little scoot time tonight, so I installed the Malossi OR I picked up over the holidays. The Yamaha Vino CVT cover that I have been using on this scoot would not fit with the OR installed, so I used another one I had.
I took it down the road for a short ride. Top speed was 59.24 @ about 12000 rpm. I cant seem to break the 60mph barrier consistently on either of my scoots, but I haven't done any carb or CVT tuning on this one yet. So hopefully this OR will get me a solid 60 mph or better when I get everything setup right.

Maybe you can try raising the porttimings a bit? Add a thicker base gasket or a spacer under the cylinder and see how that goes? Should help with power higher in the rev range. But when you do keep an eye on the squish clearance, you might need to shave the head.

But when you do keep an eye on the squish clearance, you might need to shave the head. Current setup: Exhaust 194 Transfer 130 Squish .7 Compression 140 Exhaust durations already pretty high. I would like the compression to be higher than it is. I could take the thin head gasket out, but squish would be around .52 if I remember correctly. Not sure what the limits are.

.52 is pretty tight i can tell ya. i wouldnt raise compression if you want more top speed. Raising compression will give you more torque but supresses max rpm's. Maybe if you use longer gears in combination with a higher compression, mybe that would result in a higher top speed.
My cr500 has the compression lowered to have a broader, flatter powerband since the engine is an ex-sidecar cross engine.
