5.5 grams is heavy for a stocker with tall gears. With the pipe - it should be ok. I think it was 2strokd that told me once that the sliders weights will be different than the rollers. If you like 5.5 gram rollers, then you will like 6.5 gram sliders... Or is it the other way around? His ride might act a bit different than ours with weight, its a Morini engine

You're on the money 2stroked, the morinis do seem to tune differently from the minnarellis especially in the variator. I weighed the stock rollers at 7.5gr and before the pipe, was up to 45mph downhill with rpm's somewhat lower at top end. With the 6gr sliders rpm's are noticeably higher and top end is stuck at around 43mph. I'm going to take your suggestion and get some 7.5 and 8.5 sliders and see how that works for top end. Should get me near 48-50 mph I would think...

Good call...Im gonna order some sliders for my DiTech also. Did you know the Aprilia DiTech uses a Morini engine? It came with 7g stock.

Yeah 2stroked, I am aware the Aprilia is Morini...the more I look, the more hp goodies I come across for Hyosung, TGB, Aprilia using Morini engines...who knew? I'd really like a water-cooled Di Tech but am having some serious fun with this little sleeper at the moment. Injector must be a blast compared to carb, eh?

Yea, 100+MPG of fun fun! Carbs respond quicker to quick throttle bursts, but the injection is allot more efficient. The Ape Morini is a different breed of Morini with the air pump in the case and all. But a Morini non the less.

Ha, 100 mpg could well be my argument to my wife as to why I need another scooter. Fact is, I want to rid myself of the Roketa 4T and have two nice 2T's in my shed, to lavish my affections on. I mean, ya gotta have two scooters at all times cause you never know who'll show up and want to ride, right?

Well, I spent the morning fiddling with the variator weights; put the stock 7.5gr rollers in and took it for a test ride. The results were disgusting; no takeoff to speak of, the pipe came on late at around 33 mph, couldn't climb a hill without stumbling, rpm were decreased at top end of 45mph downhill but wouldn't allow the pipe to perform as it should, just not enough displacement and horse power to do the job. Put the 6gr sliders back in and all is well. Without increasing displacement, I'm stuck at 43mph top speed which isn't so bad for a 50cc I suppose, and all kinds of nice performance in between. It climbs a grade at 35 and defies the wind. That's where it's at and where it's going to stay as a daily type driver; I'm cool with that.

Thats pretty good! Ya gotta tach? Just wondering how high it revs at speed?

Yeah, that's not bad at all for a stock bore.

No guys, I don't have a tach but will guesstimate rpm's at about 8800 at the top with current setup and 7800 to 8000 with the heavy rollers. I think the rollers were a part of the restriction originally to prevent it from attaining any serious rpm's through the variators range. Glad to hear from you though that you feel I'm in a good state of performance. Shoot, 10 mph gain isn't bad with the little that's been done and overall increase through the entire range and ability to pull hills, fight wind is pretty darn good. Thanks a lot for your support of this thread and suggestions, you've all been very helpful.

Couldn't leave well enough alone and popped the 5.5gr rollers in just to satisfy my curiosity...takeoff is slow and it shifts into high early, pipe doesn't kick in until around 28mph but then quickly reaches 40mph cruising range, 45 downhill. Not worth the trade off of the 6gr sliders but more testing to come using only sliders and proceeding in 1/2 gram increments. I think Monster sells Dr.Pulleys for 30 bucks as opposed to Scootertronics 40 bucks. will post with results as they come.

Props to you for trying. If there isn't some curiosity in you about what a different setup might be like there's no need to be tuning. ;D Even cooler that you're taking the plunge and trying to dial it in to suit your tastes just right. You can find deals on eBay sometimes BTW.

I've never used e-bay but have looked at it...prices can be better than retail. Just ordered some 6.5 gram sliders from Monster along with a new belt, man, his prices are pretty good. I think I'm getting really close to just the right tune for this scoot. Rollers vs sliders have significantly different characteristics from each other when tuning the transmission...really getting an education here.
