I think our scoots have a similar top speed right now. I'm over 70km/h(fastest mark on speedo) but have not done a gps run yet.
What size belt did you get from Monster, and what are all the mods you've done so far. I know belt, rollers, and pipe. I still need a pipe.

Rejetted the carburetor #60 stock to an #85, main. Gee, wonder what kind of performance I'd get with a larger carb; am currently running a 14.5 mm Mikuni, fair on gas at the moment but with the wind the last few days, have been emptying the tank super quick. Belt size...I'll get back with you on that, it's a Gates powerlink.

Red, it's 669-18-30. Fingers crossed it's the proper size

thats what mine takes too, but I have a 680x18 on it now. Higher top speed but I know the belt is loose at idle and lower rpms

Does it give any indication that it is slipping or doing any shuddering at low speed?

oh yeah, it shutters and stutters and the rpms go way up before it locks and goes. But I went out for a ride yesterday and buried the needle at least 10 km/h past max on the dial (i'd say 80km). I'll probably go back to a 669x18x30 like you, unless i can find a solution like an oversize vari, or tighter contra spring. The belt I realized is another coded belt, not sized. maybe I can find a vari from the scooter it was meant for.
I just don't think, i can get anymore speed out of the variator gearing. It will need more rpms or a final gear to get more with a regular sized belt. The 680 gives another 5-10km/h with just a little loss at the low end.
Right now I am matching speed with the delivery drivers on their geared 110cc cub clones. I think with a variator solution and a pipe I'll be able to beat them. Except... I won't run red lights or split lanes like they do, so I'll never really be able to beat them.

I think what I really need is slightly larger clutch plates (Is that what they are called). the belt pulley on the clutch side. Are they standard sized?

I think your speaking of the torque driver.?. If so, bigger better ones are out there but if you replace that you should replace the vari with a bigger one also or you may risk damage if the belt runs off the vari. I believe the best option is an over-range kit. They are pricey but man! The results are there! I saw em with my own two and a half eyeballs! Edit: heres one www.sip-scootershop.com/EN/Products/M6111062/Variator+Over+Range+MALOSSI.aspx

You mean you saw one working/installed? I heard someone say something about an overrange kit but wasn't paying attention.
