Hey Guys, I was thinking it might help us to have some kind of reference as what gearing our scoots have.Dont know the method, but am thinking when the CVT cover is off to count the clutch bell turns to 1 wheel rotation. Some scoots have a bunch more top end than others and I'm wondering if its in the final drive..A 50 to 90cc engine only can turn so many revs, maybe we can find a magic gearing number and all cruise at 65mph??

I'd go with the clutch bell to tire revolutions method. I'm too lazy to go out and do it now, but I'll check some of mine out and post sometime soon. I definitely believe it's the final drive transmission that makes the difference. My Tritons are so much different than the Venus. Of course big ole tires don't hurt either.

Vented CVT covers make this easy. Mark the bell, mark the cover, mark the tire, and I used the brake cable as a mark to reference the tire. Vento Triton 50cc LC : 11.125:1 Vento Triton 90cc LC : 11.125:1 Venus 50cc SC : 10.2:1 The Tritons have a 60.21" tire circumference stock. The Venus has a 51.45" tire circumference stock. Using the calculator HERE... The Tritons should be capable of 50MPH at 9700 RPM. The Venus would have to rev 10,400RPM to go 50MPH with it's stock tire size. If you put the 60.21" tire on the Venus (which you can't fit) it would only need to turn 8,900RPM to reach 50MPH.

I checked T1's gears when they were out and I can't find where I wrote down the tooth counts. I wanna say 14-41, buy I may be way off.

Hmm, I wonder what mine is running? If some gears are good to 65 MPH, does that mean that some gears are better off-the-line?

Yep,Brent's Venus should be fast out of the hole compared to the Vento's.

By all means check for us, but I'd bet you have the same gears as both of my Tritons Ben.
The one thing that should be remembered when considering speeds and gearing is torque/power. My 99cc would do 57-58MPH at 9700RPM I believe. I don't have a full time tach, but that's what it did last time I tuned with it (I think that was with the biggest tire I ever used, 140/70/12). It probably did 65MPH at somewhere a little over 10,000RPM. A lot of 50-70cc engines just aren't going to have the power at those RPM to pull 65MPH.... especially if you weigh what I do. You'd need to keep the rollers lighter and the revs higher. My 70cc Triton with the same gearing and tires used to max out at 55MPH revving 10,500 or so.

The CPI Oliver City reads 13.55 to 1

I checked while I had my CVT cover off today. Was reading around 10.3 to 1. I marked a point on the tire, and lined it up with the brake cable end, and theres already a big blue mark on my clutch bell, which went around just a bit over 10 times.

Reign.Looks like youve got the same gear ratio as Brent's Venus. With those 12" wheels you should have a good top end speed!

Reign.Looks like youve got the same gear ratio as Brent's Venus. With those 12" wheels you should have a good top end speed! Dang, too bad I'm looking for low-end speed! I've been modding mine for takeoff since I got it, and even with everything setup for fast takeoff, I was still hitting 55 MPH yesterday with a 20 MPH wind coming at me! I didn't think that was too bad. Maybe I've been looking at this Triton backwards the whole time

I'd love to cruise at 60 without the little engine turning a zillion RPM's!!
