I use heat and tap it off with a rubber mallet.

Or you could heat the gear and aggressively bump the end of the shaft that the gear will have to come off of against a board laying on concrete or asphalt (use inertia).

Did you mean 130/70? My stock tire is 120/70-12. Are you asking what the difference in circumference and rpms at crusing speed would be?
Ok. I figured it up I think. Circ. of 130 = 60.21"; Circ. of 120 = 58.48". Diff. of 1.73" or 1.73/58.48 = 2.96%. I'd like close to four times that. I really don't want to go much bigger on tire diam. and have to eliminate my little rear fender and have mud slung everywhere down there.

Yea,I meant 130/70,was wanting to figure what your cruise RPM was with Brents calculator..

That calculator wont work with a cvt trans. You can set that cvt up sixteen ways to Sunday and get all sorts of mixed results. Not to mention what an over-range would do???

The calc kinda sorta works for it. I take the final drive ratio and known RPM and tinker till I get my real world speed/RPM then stick diff tire diameters in there. I wish I could make it more CVT friendly, but it's kinda tricky as you pointed out. You'd need a tach on your clutch bell or something. lol

hey guys i've got a 12.9ish:1 final gear with 130/90-10 tire. i'm just trying to get a little more speed out of it, right now it tops out about 32-34 with my 360lbs. frame on it. if i change the gear set to a 9:1 maybe, would that help me with my top speed? i should mention i'm riding an Aprilia rally 50 with a minarelli engine.

I could not recommend that you change your stock gearing 30% toward less pulling power. Hills would kill your little scooter with that drastic of a gearing change. I think you would be better off tuning/modifying the motor for more torque and/or power and doing a little tranny tuning to make yourself a 40 mph machine. Edit: There is not a lot of difference between the cost of a gearing change and the cost of a good but lower end big bore kit and they are not that hard to install either.

I agree. I beleive power would do more for you right now than gearing. BBK, CVT tuning, then maybe look for a gearing change. If you were 150lbs and it was revved out, it might be a different story.

Hey theBatman,Get your engine running strong, tune the CVT,THEN decide if gears are needed..10.5 sounds wonderful for a 70-90cc scoot
