Well, that ride was a whole lotta fail. First the suspension is too stiff. When I hit bumps it sounds like you took a rubber mallet and struck plastic somewhere up front. The seat felt low and really hard too for some reason. Then, I got 10 miles out and stopped to take a note of something (checking RPM). I realized the seat had split nearly in half so I stuffed everything under there into my pockets and the leg shield's storage area. Luckily my wallet and cell and registration were all still there. Rode home sitting all the way on the back of the seat so it wouldn't get worse. I realize I'm very heavy for scoots, so I'm not taking the blame off of me... but this is some cheap crap. I'll take trash tomorrow so I wanted to get rid of the seat bucket. I was going to cut it up to fit in the garbage easier, but I never needed any tools. The stuff rips by hand. I tore it up like this totally by hand. Any spot where it's jagged you can rip it kinda like ripping a couple sheets of poster board I guess. Doesn't take much effort. Finally get back on the road after 5 days and immediately back to waiting for parts. So far I only checked ScrappyDog at $45 shipped for it. I'm gonna look around and order before long, but if you know a better deal post away please. This is one of those things I thought was gonna happen on day 2. It was cracked for so long I gave up the plan to get a spare because I thought it could hang in there. EDIT : Just bought at Scrappy. Didn't see a better price.

Man that sucks! It's got me thinking about my aftermarket forks though. They do settle a bit when I get on but are pretty stiff and I get the mallet on plastic sound on bumps. I'm light and could probably remove some oil. I really have just lived with it because I didn't want to pull it apart and I don't have a spanner wrench to remove the caps on these.

Just got this from Scrappy : " The Sunny Underseat Bucket you ordered is currently unavailable. It will be approximately 3 weeks before we receive stock. We can hold your invoice on back order and ship it upon arrival, or we can issue you a full refund of your purchase. Please advise how you'd prefer to handle this situation. We thank you for your business and apologize for this inconvenience." Partsforchinesescooters had the next best price at ~$49 shipped so hopefully theirs is in stock. I was so annoyed by the seat that I forgot to mention it last night, but if you recall a few posts ago I said a minivan about tried to kill me swerving off the road into the shoulder where I was riding. Well the same idiot went by last night on the same road, opposite direction, with two wheels well in the shoulder. Not like the last time, but still stupid. Some blue/green van with a yellow ribbon magnet on the back. If he/she keeps it up it'll need a ribbon magnet in remembrance of the scooter it runs over. Not even sure how to deal with it. I've got reflectors and reflective bits on gear and my lights all work, but I can't make anyone put their phone down or wake up or whatever.

Thanks, but the Venus bucket is different. I ordered the one from PartsForChineseScooters. Tried to order on their site to get it $1 cheaper and their servers went down. I'm not that patient so I bought it from their eBay store. Lordy, where's the fuzz (bet there's young folks on here that don't even know who the fuzz are) when you need them? I've seen cops swerving around and see them ride by in their cruisers on the phone much more regularly than I'd like. We have hands free laws here but I guess they can't be bothered. I'm just starting to believe I'm a dinosaur because everyone else seems to care more about their phone than driving. I still enjoy leaving the house with the phone turned off so no one can talk to me. There's something terribly relaxing about being totally disconnected to me that I guess no one else enjoys. I think some of my friends get it, but their wives won't let them turn their phones off. lol People freak out with what-ifs... but not so long ago it was totally normal to leave the house not in fear that you'd miss out on someone's status update.

That is pretty poor if you can rip that bucket by hand, unless your the Hulk lol People on phones while driving is just stupid. I even witnessed a kid texting while riding a scooter the other day

Prob close to 10 years ago when a friend and I were riding little midbikes I looked over and he was fishing his phone out of his pocket. Then he's steering with his weight (tiny bikes so it's easy) while looking up and down at his phone. [/img] The same guy wanted to ride with me in the truck to see another friend 2hr away. I spent the whole ride home with the stereo turned way down so I had something to amuse me and it wouldn't bother him while he talked on his phone to another friend. Again it makes me feel old because I remember when people used to actually talk to each other in cars. Sorry, I could possibly literally go on forever about my hatred for the misuse of mobile devices. I may have to start a 2nd forum entitled " YOUR PHONE!".

I'll join! People are just rude. I can be helping a customer and they'll get on their phone like I'm not even there. Pisses me off! I've learned to walk away and they can come find me and if I'm not busy they get the short answers to their needs and nothing more. At that point they have shown they don't value my time or expertise and they don't get it. Sorry for the rant. This strikes a cord.

I got the seat bucket in from PartsForChineseScooters about 10 days ago, but I was working on video for a different project. Finally got around to working on it. The seat bucket should be a 5 minute swap, but not in this case. I went to install it and the bolt holes weren't lining up how they should. The most obvious issue was that one of the mounts was bending at the weld. I never got a pic, but there was a crack where the weld met up to the frame. I grabbed it with vise grips and it moved easily. I figured I'd just get it straight and check the fit, then take the seat back off and re-weld the bracket. It still didn't fit. The old bucket had the rear mounting bolts offset and this one doesn't. I can't remake the plastic seat so I modified the mount and put the studs even with each other. While I was in there I welded a piece of M6 threaded rod to the bottom. I saw that the bracket bowed very slightly in the center and I don't use a seat latch so at least it won't hurt. The bracket is really thin. Looks like it should hold a horn on or something, not support part of a rider's weight. Maybe the latch bolted on would have helped brace it though. Then when I installed the seat on the rear bracket it was straight with the scooter, but the front mounts still didn't line up. I cut the brackets off of the frame so I could make them work. I bolted the brackets to the seat so it would be easy to test fit and figure out where they needed to go. I wasn't happy with how low the seat was so I cut a piece of thick walled steel pipe to raise each roughly 1/8". I welded those to the frame, then welded the brackets to them. The stock mounts were only welded on the top/outside of the bracket/frame, but I wanted to weld on both sides to hopefully make it stronger. Ended up having to take the engine out so I could reach to weld in there. It's all welded up now and painted over with BBQ black, which doesn't match the rest of the frame. It was late when I came in and I got lazy with the pics. Luckily I don't use many fairings, because I doubt they'd fit after all of this. I plan to remove more fairings one day though vs riding full-fairing. The engine's still out. I checked the valves since they're so easy to get to and at least those were right on where I last set them. Sucks having the engine on the bench and big bore kits around, and not installing anything because that's not where I want the project to go just yet.

Got the seat stuff finished up today. While I was at it I used a heated utility knife to trim off part of the floorboard. They don't do anything but flop around since there are no panels mating to these pieces and removing them gives a clearer shot to the engine. The seat seems to work fine, but the bucket and seat don't match up exactly like stock. Something is just slightly off and feels odd when it's closed without pressure on it, but feels fine sitting on it or applying light pressure.

I took about a teaspoon or two of fluid from each fork last night, then rode into town to drop off some recycling and see how it worked. One bit of good news is the seat didn't fall off on the first ride. The suspension was still too stiff though and bangs on bumps. I was dumb enough to go down a really bad road so I experienced the harsh hits plenty of times.
Just came in from taking out prob another 2 teaspoons full from each. Maybe 3. I can't tell you for sure because I used the laziest way possible the last couple of times. I took the front cover panel off and removed both fork tops. Then I straightened the wheel and compressed the front till a little fluid came out. Pulled the shocks to extend them and put the caps on. Then I sprayed off the front to be sure no fork oil was on anything (especially the tire or brakes) and put the cover back on.
That little extra bit made a lot of the original feeling come back. Haven't rode it yet, but I think it's similar to but maybe a bit stiffer than stock now. Doesn't seem like there's much room with this front end between stock feel and too stiff.
