I wanna say my taiwanese TGB scoot has ABS plastics, they're really sturdy. Ya know, now that you mention it...TGB scoots seem to be made pretty good compared to others.

The seat I can blame on my big ass. TMI buddy....T-M-I..... Sorry, butt at nearly 300lbs I just don't want anyone only reading this to think the seat bucket will break for the average Joe.

The seat buckets are made for 5' tall 120 pound asians. I've broken mine too at 225ish.

It was really nice tonight and T2 is down so I got the TaoTao out. Took a bit to get it started. Once it started it was fine. It's running rich from the cold weather tune. Fluctuating from 10-12:1 air/fuel ratio WOT.
In 35 miles of riding I think I saw about 30 animals. Kinda glad I was on this scoot and not going faster on the 2T. Started with a deer in a ditch a few feet from me headed to town. In town there were 2 young raccoons in the street. I stopped and got them to go off the street where they climbed a telephone pole. Coming home I decided to take back roads. In one spot I saw roughly 20 deer together. The one good thing about the ATM50/sunny style scoot headlight is that it moves with the handlebars. Paired with a 65W Silverstar headlight it makes a nifty spotlight for watching deer. Seemed like every half mile on the back roads I would see more deer.

(I really like this storage spot. Never owned a scooter with that feature before.) I've got almost an identical one on my sunny scooter. Cell, wallet and smokes go in there, they never bounce out or anything. Also, hold all my change. Chinging down the road lol. The sunny also has the clip.

Yeah, I've basically rebuilt the whole thing and I can tell you they did not cut corners, everything on here looks like it was built to last, really impressed.

I did a couple of main jet swaps and got the air/fuel ratio looking better. Started with the 92 main at 10-12:1. Swapped in an 85 main and it was running 14.5-15.5:1 WOT. Switched to an 85 and it stays 12-14:1 WOT. A wideband is a wonderful thing in these situations. Just a shame it's such a nasty night to be riding up and down the road.

I rode 40 miles today to finish up 1500 miles since installing a new stock variator and upgrading it with an oil impregnated bushing. Considering one variator died at ~700 miles, I figure if it comes out looking alright at this point it's good enough for testing. Hasn't been constantly changing characteristics on every ride lately. Changes over time, but that's too be expected. It was in the upper 80s today before storms came in and I hit a new high for oil temp. At least the highest I've noticed since the gauge isn't easily visible if I'm sitting on the front of the seat in a normal riding position. I remember seeing upper 250s before. Today it was over 250F cruising WOT and when stopped I saw this : A little more proof for why so many say we should change oil frequently. CHT got up to 403F, but it kept going to blank. I reset it twice and it started reading again, but then blanked later. It did that on the last couple of rides too.

I feel kinda special today. I mean in a good way. lol I took the TaoTao to carry some recycling. Real quick ride, maybe 10 miles altogether. First I had some road construction people waving at me and one in a truck at the site blowing the horn and waving (he was off of the road so no I wasn't holding him up). I started to wonder what was falling off of the scooter or if it was on fire. Didn't seem to be. Proceeded to a turn where a group of kids on bikes waved at me. "No, the scoot still doesn't seem to be on fire." Took the recycling and then went on a back road to avoid all of these happy people. I passed another vehicle on the way home. OK, so it was a tractor, but when I pass anything on a stock-ish TaoTao it feels like an accomplishment. I can't seem to find any signs or strange things attached to the scoot or I so I don't know why everyone was so happy to acknowledge me today. I think I'll stay inside till tomorrow just to be safe.

I've been tired of worrying about hitting these foot pegs on the ground on turns. I picked these folding pegs up on eBay for I think around $10 months ago and finally decided to start installing them today. I have no mounting hardware, other than what is shown above, so I used cardboard to make up some tabs that would work with these pegs. Then I cut 4 out of 1/8" steel. I cut two 1.125" x 1.125" squares out of 1/8" steel as well, to be used as a back plate. If positioned properly, the spring for the pegs should be able to rest on top of the plate. It's just wide and tall enough to work without much overhang. Not exactly pretty, but they'll work. Assembled to be sure they functioned properly. A little bit of disassembly. I chopped the old pegs off to the length I wanted. The new pegs will stick out about 1/2" more, but that shouldn't be a problem with folding pegs. I could have made them protrude the same amount as before, but I thought I'd give myself more room. I got one welded in just a couple of spots. I'll have to take the peg out and weld all the way around the mount and I need to do the other side, but I had other things to take care of.

Nice mod. Those old pegs were an accident waiting to happen.
Just curious, you are obviously a big guy. Does your tire rub on the body and/or the frame down tube when you jam on the front brake? I have ridden many scooters of that "sunny" style and most of them rubbed.

I don't think I've ever had a tire rub from braking and I've used all of the front brake on every scoot I've owned at some point. I've felt the whole scoot flex many times. I do usually add more/thicker oil in the forks though. With that and a heavier duty shock in the back and higher tire pressures, this thing will beat you to death on bumps.
