Well, there goes another theory down the drain, ha ha.

Isn't it possible that you could get a small amount of water in your gas filling up at a gas station? That could cause a stall or two til it works it's way out of the system and then all is well again. Another theory anyway...

Hey check your exhaust valve that was the culprit in my scoots random dying moments.

It seemed to happen regardless of whether I've filled up from the 5gal can or at the pump.
I have checked the valves recently, but I may do it again for good measure.

Yeah,valve/seat wear is a fact of life since unleaded gas was made 'law'..Doesnt matter how high tech the material of the seat or valve, its gonna wear..Gotta keep up with the lash checks,if stuff changes often, time to pull the head and order parts..No 2 stroke rant now,but no valves,,just sayin'...

I checked the valves again. They were 0.002/0.0025" as they were the last times I've checked them. Set them to 0.0025/0.003" anyway. They aren't noticeably louder, at least on cold start, so that'll work.
I noticed a piece of something in the fuel filter. Don't really think it would be the issue, but I'll still take it off and get it out of there later.

Have you tried to bypass the ignition switch? Maybe Thats causing the ignition to cut off? Maybe the switch itself has a bad connection?
A complete shutoff at complete random moments makes me think its electrical. Carb problems are most of the time not a yes Or no thing. Electrical problems are.

At this point I'm just riding around with a spark tester under my seat hoping it shuts off again. If it never happens again it may be hard to know what was going on. At least if it does I can confirm that it has spark or that it doesn't which would rule out a lot of things. It does seem electrical in a way since it appears to be somewhat random, but I'm surprised I get no other symptoms if that's the case. It's only ever happened while coasting to a stop, right as the clutch disengages and the scooter is free-wheeling. When exactly it occurs is random, but how it occurs or the conditions under which it occurs have matched up all 3 times.

It's 92F according to weather sites or 97F if you believe the sign in town and I rode around for 32 miles. No dying out at stops. At this point I give up on riding around just hoping it dies. I'll keep the spark tester under the seat though.

Yeah that's how machines do when you're waiting for it to do something it doesn't want to do it...

I went to do a few 0-30s today, just to get some more numbers that are probably inconsistent with the rest, and ended up riding for 35 miles. Went down a really rough dirt road. I was going to go through a closed area, but it's all covered in tall grass there and dry so I didn't like the idea of a hot exhaust combined with that. Thought I joined a gang, but they left me in a 50MPH zone. Some dummy running a stop sign : Lots of non-driving-muthas out today. Had a sheriff swerving into the shoulder looking at me in the rear view, people on my side taking turns, people passing me and then I'd be right behind them at the next stop sign or after a turn. I missed my two-strokes today.

Where does that idiot that ran the stop sign think he is? England? He is on the wrong side of the road for crying out loud. Good thing you were not going to make a right onto that road.
What an F'ing moron!
Yet another example of why we need to watch out ALL of the time.

Pretty much the same old stuff. Every time I check 0-30MPH it's different. The one thing I need to be confident trying mods is consistency. Does me no good to say it's 2 seconds quicker now when it could be 3 seconds off with the same old setup. I may end up putting a new bushing in a different stock variator and seeing if that will work out better.
