The contra spring is between the clutch and rear pulley. It's not supposed to move the clutch anywhere. It applies pressure to the moving half of the rear pulley to resist opening in contrast to the roller weights as they try to push the front pulley together. If you're having trouble with assembly or disassembly of about anything in the CVT it should be covered HERE.

Old wheels and tires are sold. So I guess a bushing will be made. Waiting on somethings. Case 1/2. Broke out the gun and shot one small pnl. Shooting the rust with rust ender then I will shoot a gloss black epoxy. Gotta pull the forks. Ordered some special parts. A variator holder, something else. Going with 8 AWG silver plated battery wires.Engine build lube, permatex Aviation gasket stuff. On anything that doesn't have pressure you can use thread and permatex. Worked for Teledyne built a few cases that way. Bought some duplicolor Cany Apple Red. It is lacquer though. Works on Vettes. If it cracks sand down and start over. Ordered another bendix. The one on it wobbled. Oh valve spring tool hate looking for keepers.I can get a tire changer and balancer for less than 100.00. Any suggestions for rear shocks? There isn't a shop here for scooters. Did get the flex additive. Some say put just in the primer others say put it in all.

Start putting engine back together today. Hope to be riding this weekend.Cleaning corrosion on the case. Will paint with epoxy. We did a test of Cyl. Head temps painted and bare. It was only 2 or 3 degrees increase. Went to a 95 jet. Plug was very white when I pulled it. If you buy a bigger cyl. make sure you are getting the one with bigger valves.Did get a long case half. 70.00. Now to get a swing arm for it. Did find an obscure sight. I talked to them about a discount. I'll post it hold on. Stuff like this. www.mxmotoparts.com/high-performance-single-piston-brake-caliper-for-dirt-bike-roa-p-115.htmlBeen adding to the list for an order from these guys. 20.00 for the this brake caliper. Been painting pnls seperate. Think I'm going riding. LOL I hate corrosion. Found another shaft with it. It isn't easy to stop corrosion on steel.Found a lot of corrosion on the welds. I sanded them down and shot them with rust restore as the primer then I shot epoxy paint.

Today I pulled the nut off the clutch. It is still sitting there together with no nut. It is frozen. Even with an impact I can't get the front pulley off. The nut is frozen onto the shaft.

Ok Got it partially apart. Used Teflon spray. Can't find my Mouse Milk. Using hair dryer to heat it up to loosen on the bottom cup of the spring. Will see how that works. Lot of corrosion.

Wear on inside where the pins ride against the lower spring cup. Hoping by repositioning the cup. Will have a different wear spot. Am using a rust converter. To try and help.

I have heated the variator nut with a small torch. Everything. Need a second person to hold the case down. Impact isn't touching it at all. Ordered a holder. I go back and forth. Gotta try the tire install again. I really would like the bigger tires. We shall see where I go from here. LOL

Small tire changer needs two people. About to mod CVT cover.Used Loctite C%-A high temp lube on the clutch. Will use it on gears also. On your builds do you use assembly lube? We use to use lubri plate. Tried permatex this time. Use it on cam lobes, piston pin, rocker arms. Helps to lube on start up.Metal to metal isn't good.

Had to cut nut on the variator. Lost very little thread area. I have tried to collapse the clutch spring to get the belt on. My hands aren't strong enough. Put the larger tire on the original rim. Anyone have any ideas how to rig something to collapse and split the pulley? Have leak checked everything. About ready to hang the engine. Once that is done. Will run w/o ignition hooked up. Make sure everything is kosher.

Try taking the rear pulley off so it's easier and open it and put the belt in there, then install it.

I tried that. The engine is on the bench. I have a Y clamp I'm going to try.
